Merck supports Goa Government in the 108 First

Responder Bike Ambulance initiative.

Goa, India, 14 August, 2018 – Merck, a leading science and technology company,
today announced the launch of 15 (fifteen) Merck sponsored 108 First Responder
Bike Ambulances, under the initiative of the Directorate of Health Services,
Government of Goa. The initiative has taken shape under the guidance of Shri
Manohar Parikkar, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa and Shri Vishwajit Rane, Hon’ble
Minister of Health, Government of Goa. The new bikes were launched on 14 August
2018, by Shri Vishwajit Rane and Mr Nitin Singh, Country Speaker, Merck India.

Social responsibility is at the core of Merck’s business. Based out of Usgaon Merck
is actively supporting the infrastructure of schools near its plant. Merck has rebuilt
classrooms, laboratories and sanitation facilities in the St Joseph and Sarvodaya
schools in Usgaon. Study material is donated to children from various schools in
Usgaon, every year, through Merck’s community initiative with the panchayat.

Merck also supports the education (from Std XI to Graduation) of 45 children in Goa
through its scholarship program.

The Directorate of Health Services has conveyed that the new 108 First Responder
Bike Ambulances will be stationed at strategic locations across the major cities in
Goa ensuring faster access to care for emergency and accident victims. The
ambulances will be managed and operated by GVK EMRI under the toll free no. 108.
