Mechanics and General Rules


1. 2017 International Dance Contest is an intersection competition that showcases the dance skills, choreography,
camaraderie among students and as well as the appreciation of cultural dances.
2. Each grade level will be given a specific cultural dance to perform as specify below. The dance must be
accompanied by the cultural dance music prescribed in a USB, CD or any tape recorded music. Live or taped music
allowed.
 Grade 7: Fast Hula, Tahitian Style  Grade 9: Korean Fan Dance, Buchaechum
 Grade 8: Traditional Mexican Dance  Grade 10: Philippine Folk Dance, Carinosa
3. A minimum of three (3) and maximum of six (6) minutes per presentation. MEDLEY (combination) OF
DIFFERENT DANCES AND REMIX OF MUSIC ARE PROHIBITED. A two (2) point’s deduction for every
exceeding of time and five (5) points for medley and remix will be deducted from the total score.
4. In dances, the entrance and/ or exit steps, the participants may create such. However, entrance steps must not be
longer than the dance itself. Entrance and exit should not exceed one (1) minute each, inclusive to the time of
presentation.
5. Contestant/participants consist of a bonifide student of Elpidio Quirino High School in a respective section. One
entry per section. There will be a minimum number of participants as indicated below. Dances should composed
of all males/females or a combination of both.
 Grade 7 and 9 : minimum of 20 participants
 Grade 8 and 10 : minimum of 6 pairs (12 participants)
6. Registration of the section participants will be three (3) days before the contest proper. Upon registration, a
registration fee of five (5) pesos per participants will served as proof of section entry. Registration fee is for the
contest certificates, awards and token for the judges.
7. Staging may be implemented but the authenticity of the dance step costume and music shall be observed.
8. The criteria for judging:
Performance 50%
Skill and Mastery of Performance 20%
Stage Projection, Grace and Poise 20%
Showmanship / Unity, Expression and Precision 10%
Interpretation 30%
(Authentic interpretation of the dance)
Authenticity of Costume, Music and Equipment 20%

9. There will be one (1) winner per grade level.
10. The decision of the judges is final and unappealable/irrevocable
