0 Findings

SECTION A: RESPONDENT BACKGROUND

This section consisting of two questions were distributed to 50 respondents from various
faculty. The demographic details were on gender and faculty.

4.1 Gender

Figure 4.1 shows the total number of genders for respondents.

To classify the gender of the respondents, we used the help of bar chart to have
a better visual understanding of it. Our respondents are more to male than female with
33 and 17 respondents respectively.
4.2 Faculty

Figure 4.2 shows respondents from various faculty responded to our questionnaire.

Based on the bar chart constructed, 29 respondents, or more than half


respondents are from Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Then, it was followed by
respondents from Faculty of Electrical engineering with 7 respondents, Faculty of Civil
Engineering with 5 respondents and Faculty of Chemical Engineering with 6
respondents. Meanwhile, the rest of it is minority group from Faculty of Law and
Communication and Media Studies with 1 and 2 respondents respectively.
SECTION B: PREFERENCES OF PERSONAL TRANSPORTATION AGAINST
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

In this section we will be looking at the preferences of personal transportation against public
transportation. This is due to analysing our first objective which is to study the reason why
students prefer using personal transportation than public transportation. For this section, there
are three questions which our respondents need to answer.

4.3 Number of Respondents Choosing Personal Transportation

The pie chart in Figure 4.3 above shows the statistics of preferable transportation for
students to go to their university.

This pie chart was constructed in order to determine which one is more
preferable for students whether personal transportation or public transportation. Out of
50 respondents, 80% of them use personal transportation and the remaining 20% use
public transportation to go to classes.
4.4 The use of Personal Transportation over Public Transport.

Figure 4.4 shows the reasons for respondents using personal transportation than public
transport.

With the aid of pie chart, it can be analysed that the highest respondents were
answered to “I can get to my destination faster” with 40 respondents meanwhile 27 of
respondents love using personal transportation because they can go to multiple stop.
Besides for the “Because sharing a car with my friends is easier” and “Other” option
received the lowest vote with 11 and 0 respondents respectively. This indicated that
majority of respondents considered the time taken to their destination seriously. This
difference shows that student chose personal transportation over public transport
because the factor of efficiency.
4.5 Reasons of Avoiding Taking Public Transportation

Figure 4.5 shows clearly the respondent’s distribution regarding their reasons of not
choosing public transportation.

By constructing this pie chart it help us to determine the most common reason
of why students likely to avoid taking public transportation. Based on the pie chart
constructed, we found out that a lot of respondents did not prefer public transportation
because it is really time consuming. 42% of them believe that they need to wait for a
long time in order to wait for a bus to arrive. Then, 28% of our respondent facing the
problem of unavailability of public transportation in their living area. 26% of our
respondent also not very fancy with crowded bus or public transportation as this makes
them feel very uncomfortable. Only 4% respondents think taking public transportation
also money consuming.
