O Godly-minded Lovers of Feasts in Greece, let us gather together today and extol Truly Holy Porphyrios who lived an Angelic Life, for he was shown to be indeed a True Prophet, who, being rich in the Spirit’s Grace, humbly served all and thus became a Mystic of the Holy Trinity, and worthily, the Pride and Joy of the Orthodox!

Because of Thy Law, O Lord, I waited for Thee; my soul waited for Thy Word. My soul Hopes in the Lord.

In the bloom of Thy youth Thou went to Mount Athos and blossomed there like a fragrant flower. And thus Thy words in their simplicity brought Great Joy to so many, and with Divine Gentleness Thou pacified troubles souls, and guided them to the serene Harbour of Christ our Saviour’s Holy Church where, indeed, there is Salvation and the Joy of Paradise.

From the morning watch until night; from the morning watch until night – let Israel Hope in the Lord.

For with the Lord there is Mercy, and with Him is Abundant Redemption; and He will Redeem Israel from all his transgressions.

O Holy Porphyrios, since Thy youth, Thou Loved our Lord and served His Church with profound Humility. And to the sick and infirm Thou gave Miraculous Remedies. The All Holy Spirit’s Gifts of Discernment and Second Sight were granted to Thee, and the Grace to Foresee events unfolding in the world before they happened, which are to us, imperceptible.

Praise the Lord, all Gentiles! Him, all you people!

Praise

Thou descended into the depths of our Saviour’s Humility and were exalted to the Ineffable Secrets of Christ’s Divine Mysteries, in which, O Porphyrios, Thou delighted, and Thou beheld things to come, being thunderstruck like John on Patmos of old, beholding Revelations by Lumination of the Holy Spirit, O Most Devout Priest of God.

Although a Righteous man may die before his time, he shall be at rest.

For old age is not honoured for its length of existence, nor measured by its number of years.

Discernment is grey hair for mankind, and a spotless Life is the maturity of old age.

There was once a man pleasing to God, and Loved by Him, and while living among sinners he was taken up.

He was caught up lest evil change his Understanding, or deceit deceive his soul.

For

He was Perfected, for in a short time he fulfilled long years, for to the Lord his soul was pleasing.

Therefore, He took him early from the midst of evil.
