Simple Lesson Plan for Araling Panlipunan VIII


I. Topic
a. Subject Matter: The City of Mohenjo-Daro
b. Materials: 5 VR Box, 5 smartphones, Laptop
c. Reference: Module Grade VIII, Youtube Videos on Mohenjo-Daro
II. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should have an 80% proficiency in the following:
a. Basic knowledge of one of the Indus Valley Civilizations – Mohenjo-Daro
b. Explain the importance of the studying one of the flourishing cities of the old
c. Experience through virtual reality the great city Mohenjo-Daro
III. Presentation
a. Motivation
i. The team will be introduced by teacher Iris, and will spark an interest on
integrating VR in classroom setting.
ii. The students will be shown a series of slides that will show pictures of different
artifacts or symbols related to the early civilizations. They will guess in turn on
where such things could be found, or is being symbolized.
b. Virtual Reality Presentation
i. The teacher will start the lesson proper by asking the students what they know
about the city of Mohenjo-Daro. A discussion will occur, and she will jump off
like a tour guide to the city of Mohenjo-Daro. (while this happen, the assistants
will now be preparing the VRs.
ii. Each student will be provided with a VR Box and a smartphone and will watch a
walkthrough of the ancient city of Mohenjo-Daro.
iii. After watching the first video, while the assistant teachers are preparing the VRs
for the second video, the teacher will be asking the following questions:
a. What did you observe about the City of Mohenjo-Daro?
b. What do you think is the state of Mohenjo-Daro today?
iv. The teacher will now bring the class to a preparation on watching the current
disposition of Mohenjo-Daro as of this day. After watching the video, she will
ask the following questions:
a. Where is Mohenjo-Daro located? (Sindh Province)
b. How much was accomplished in terms of percentage on the
archaeological excavation?
c. Why do you think the narrator said that the city of Mohenjo-Daro is
becoming a crumbling heritage of Pakistan?
v. The students will then watch a video from National Geographic Channel to learn
more about the city of Mohenjo-Daro. The following questions will be posed by
the teacher to start a formative discussion.
a. How many districts does the city of Mohenjo-Daro has? What
are they?
b. Was there a social class structure on the city of Mohenjo-Daro?
Why do you think that even though, the city is near India today,
that such class structure was not inherited today?
c. What does Egalitarian structure means?
d. Who we the three noted persons who discovered the city ruins?
e. How many years did it took for another civilization to have such
large bath?
ii. Generalization
The teacher will then ask the students about what they learned in
summary about the city of Mohenjo-Daro in a minute. (the assistants will show
the class a timer through the laptop). After the sharing, the teacher will then ask
the following questions:
1. What was the significance of the city of Mohenjo-Daro during the early
civilization?
2. What do you think are the reasons why Mohenjo-Daro declined even
though they were one of the flourishing cities?
