1. Introduction
Using ABB Assistant Control Panel (ACS-AP-I, ACS-AP-S) USB connection with ABB PC-Tools such as Drive
composer (DCPT-01, DCET-01) or Drive loader 2 requires a driver to be installed to PC. Installation of
corresponding PC-Tools include the installation of the driver but occasionally user may want to manually install
the driver, update installed version or rollback to an older version.

1.1. Driver and PC-tool versions

Drive composer pro versions up to 1.5 and Drive composer entry versions up to 1.0.6.0 include driver version
2.0.0.0 which is automatically installed (pro only).
Drive composer pro from version 1.6 onwards, Drive composer entry from version 1.1 onwards, and all Drive
loader 2 versions include driver version 3.0.1.0 which is automatically installed.
Most important difference between two driver versions is the support for hot-swapping the USB cable to
another drive without disconnecting PC-Tools which is only in version 3.0.1.0.
Note! It is always recommended to use the newest version if there is no particular reason to do otherwise!

1.2. Instructions overview

This document guides the user through different scenarios as follows:
 Check the current version
 Install version 2.0.0.0
 Install version 3.0.1.0
 Upgrade from version 2.0.0.0 to version 3.0.1.0
 Roll-back from version 3.0.1.0 to version 2.0.0.0
 Manual selection of used driver (Advanced)
These guides assume the user to have knowledge on basic administration tasks and device drivers with
Windows.
All screenshots are taken with Windows 7. Details of the process may differ with other Windows versions but
the main steps of the process are the same.

2.1. Check the current version
Open Device Manager, Right-click the device and select “Properties” to begin the process

Select “Driver” tab to view the version of the driver

2.2. Install version 2.0.0.0

After decompressing the driver package, launch \Version 2\install.cmd by double clicking or from command
prompt.
You may have to answer ‘Yes’ to multiple Windows authentication requests. With Window XP you may also
need to allow driver installation with unrecognized signature.
Click “Next >” to begin the installation

Click “Finish” to complete the installation

2.3. Install version 3.0.1.0

2.4. Upgrade from version 2.0.0.0 to version 3.0.1.0

Just follow the instructions in Chapter 2.3 Install version 3.0.1.0.

2.5. Roll-back from version 3.0.1.0 to version 2.0.0.0

Just follow the instructions in Chapter 2.2 Install version 2.0.0.0.

2.6. Manual selection of used driver (Advanced)

If multiple drivers are installed on a PC, user can select the used version manually.
Open Device Manager, Right-click the device and select “Update Driver Software...” to begin the process
