ABSTRACT

CURRENT TEACHERS MOTIVATION: ITS EFFECTS TO THE

This study was conducted to find out the current teachers

motivation in three selected schools in Diplahan district, the analysis

and interpretation of data revealed the following findings:

For the demographic profile of respondents which includes the

Length of Service, Position of Teachers, Educational Qualification, Age

Profile of Respondents by School, Number of Teaching Experience. There

were 38 respondent most of them are female teachers

Parents give reward to teachers in their school; get respect from the

community and gets public recognition such as parade for good

academic performance and co-curricular activities. The teachers often get

rewards for student’s good performance. The school head recommends

for salary increment of the teachers, their teaching gives recognition and

give verbal recognition to the teachers. Teachers are getting more skills,

gaining confidence and competence, enabling them to move with changes

in science and technologies, and updating them with changes in the

curriculum such as organizing for teacher’s seminar workshops and

discussion forums.

The teachers are encouraged to develop creativity skills in their

teaching, organizes in service courses for teachers and they get time off

to attend class to develop their skill further. Department of Education

provides promotion to teachers and that the promotion in their school is

fair and just. Special abilities are provided in their school, assigned as

subject coordinators and have special assignment and they are

recommended for promotion.

Teachers’ gets incentives in a form of leave credits, given free time

to use internet to improve their lesson, and awards given to different

learning areas on good performance of students. Teachers get extra

bonuses for good performance, their work space is more desirable and

comfortable with and their personal problems are understood by their

school head. The influence of gender and type of does not influence their

job’s satisfaction.

The teachers’ come very early to school, come with lesson plan in

class, conducts regular marking of tests and feedbacks giving to

students, and actively participating in co-curricular activities. The

teachers always regularly testing, evaluating the students, supervise all

school activities, always reported regularly, always closely monitored

pupil’s behavior in classes, always efficient in maintaining discipline and

always conduct remedial classes to slow learners. Students improved

their academic performance because of the Job satisfaction of the

teachers. There is a significant relation between the teachers’ motivation

and learners’ academic performance.
