1. Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs


(CCEA) has approved continuation of nine
sub-schemes of umbrella scheme
“Atmosphere & Climate Research-
Modelling Observing Systems & Services
(ACROSS)” during 2017-2020. The scheme
aims at improving of weather and climate
forecast through sustained observations.

2. Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched ‘Mission


Raksha Gyan Shakti’ in New Delhi to boost Intellectual Property Right
(IPR) culture in the Indian defence industry.

3. Himachal Pradesh has become the first state in the country to


implement Emergency Response Support System (ERSS). Rajnath
Singh launched ERSS number 112 for the state.

4. State Government of Andhra Pradesh has launched Bhuseva and


Bhudaar web portal through which people can view land records online.

5. Logix India 2019 which aims to serve as major initiative to improve


logistics cost effectiveness and operational efficiencies for India’s global
trade will be held in New Delhi in 2019. The logo and brochure for the
same was launched recently.

6. Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs launched ‘PAiSA’


portal - a centralised electronic platform for quicker processing of
loans under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihoods
Mission. The aim is to provide Affordable Credit and Interest Subvention
Access.

7. Sashakt Mahila Yojna which aims to empower rural women by


providing them an interface for organization and socio-economic
development has been approved by Himachal government.

8. Karnataka government in partnership with start-up accelerator


Numa, launched a 7-month innovative programme that will enable
corporates to identify the relevant innovative start-ups. Initiative is called
‘DataCity’.

1. European Investment Bank (EIB) and State


Bank of India (SBI) agreed to cooperate on
financing renewable energy and wind
energy projects across India in the first
offshore wind investment conference held in
New Delhi.

2. According to RBI, total credit growth


from banks to the commercial sector grew at 15.6 per cent to Rs
97.32 lakh crore the highest growth since demonetization.

3. According to the ‘SBI Ecowrap’ report released by the State Bank of


India, the GDP growth in the September quarter (2nd quarter) is
expected to decelerate to 7.5-7.6 per cent over the previous three-
month period.

4. The Reserve Bank has launched a survey on India’s start-up


sector (SISS). The survey is intended to create a profile of the start-up
sector in India and provide dimensions relating to turnover, profitability and
workforce.

5. Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD)


(Headquarter: Paris) released its Economic Outlook 2018 and
predicted GDP at market prices to decline marginally to 7.3% in
2019 and 7.4% in 2020.

6. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has reduced the mandatory hedging


provision to 70 per cent from 100 per cent to ease the External
Commercial Borrowing (ECB) norms. The move will help Indian
companies to borrow foreign currency-denominated ECBs for more liquidity.

7. SEBI set up 24-member Kotak panel on corporate governance led


by Uday Kotak released the amended SEBI (Listing Obligations and
Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2018 with new rules for re-
classification of a promoter as a public investor. As per new rules promoter
cannot hold over 10 per cent stake in the firm.

8. Union Government has inked $75 million loan agreement with


Asian Development Bank (ADB) for Karnataka Integrated Urban Water
Management Investment Program.

9. Paytm (One 97 Communications Limited) has partnered with the


Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) to offer online insurance
premium payments on its platform.

10. HDFC ERGO General Insurance set up a remote sensing lab for
crop insurance which will help in early detection of information and will be
used to alert the farmers.

11. In a first by any small finance bank, Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, a
wholly owned subsidiary of Ujjivan Financial Services Limited
introduced a new personal loan scheme for salaried individuals.
Personal loans starting from Rs 50,000 up to Rs 15 lakhs would be given to
individuals who earn more than 15 thousand per month.

12. According to the 2017-18 annual report of Pradhan Mantri Mudra


Yojana (PMMY), Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) sanctioned
Mudra loans of Rs 27,000 crores under PMMY, as against Rs
92,492.68 crores sanctioned by public sector banks.

However, NBFC Mudra loans grew faster than banks in FY18. Among
this, AU Small Finance Bank was the top lender among Small Finance Banks
(SFBs) and the State Bank of India (SBI) was the top lender among state-run
banks.

13. Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India


signed a $200 million loan in New Delhi to fund upgradation of 230
kilometers State Highways in Bihar.

3. Google’s Next Billion Users (NBU) announced the national roll-


out of its Neighbourly app in Delhi and Bangalore. The app will provide
local information about playgrounds, schools, medical shops, coaching
classes etc.

4. The feature phone maker Easyfone launched “Easyfone Star”,


India’s first mobile phone for kids to help them be safer and connected to
parents at Rs. 3490.

personal robot Miko 2 for Kids.

(WCCB), India and its enforcement officer
RS Sharath for 2018 Asia Environmental
Enforcement Awards.

Best Performance by An Actor (Male) for
his film Manto and actress-filmmaker Nandita
Das received International Federation of Film Producers Associations
(FIAPF) award for achievement in films in the Asia-Pacific Region at
the 12th Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA).

3, Sanjay Kumar, Founder and CEO of Geospatial Media &


Communications, was conferred the ‘Global Geospatial Industry
Ambassador’ Award at the United Nations World Geospatial
Information Congress held at Deqing city in China. Theme of the congress
was “The Geospatial Way to a Better World”.

4. Nicolas Orellana of Chile (Capital: Santiago, Currency: Peso) and


Yaseen Noorani from Kenya (Capital: Nairobi, Currency: Shilling) were
awarded International James Dyson award 2018 for their innovative
design ‘Urban wind turbine’ called O-Wind Turbine.

5. Amitabh Bachchan was awarded the third Sayaji Ratna Award for
his social contribution to pay off the loans of several farmers from Uttar
Pradesh and Maharashtra.

6. In the 49th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held in


Panaji, Goa, best film (Golden Peacock) award was given to
Donbass (Ukrainian movie) directed by Sergei Loznitsa. ICFT –
UNESCO Gandhi Medal has been given to ‘Walking with the Wind’ film
directed by Praveen Morchhale.

7. Manipal Academy of Higher Education won silver in the


International Green Apple Award for environmental best practice
2018.

8. Chairman of IT major Wipro and philanthropist Azim Premji was


bestowed with highest French civilian distinction Chevalier de la
Legion d’Honneur he was awarded for his outstanding contribution to
developing information technology industry in India.

9. Renowned flute player (flautist) Pandit Keshav Ginde has been


selected for 2018 Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Lifetime
Achievement Award for Classical Music.

10. Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) won the CII-Exim Bank Business
Excellence Award, for being a role-model organization, at the Quality
Summit held in Bengaluru.

11. Senior artist Mr. A. N. Patil was announced to be the recipient


of the Kuncha Kala Tapasvi Award, in the category of lifetime
achievement.

12. Uttarakhand was adjudged as the best state in the 38th India
International Trade Fair, which was held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

13. According to Global Wage Report 2018-19 “What Lies behind


Gender pay gaps” published by International Labour Organization
(ILO), on average, women are paid 34% less than men in India when it
comes to hourly wages for labour, this figure stands at 16% globally.
14. As per World malaria report by WHO (Headquarter: Geneva,
Switzerland), India has registered a 24 % reduction in cases from
2016 to 2017, mainly due to its reduction in the highly malaria infected
state of Odisha. India accounted for 4 % of global malaria cases in 2017.

15. UN Environment released the 3rd edition of ‘Inclusive Wealth


Report 2018’ and an Inclusive Wealth Index during UN Environment
Finance Initiative Global Roundtable in Paris, France. Republic of Korea,
Singapore and Malta topped the chart of survey of growth in the wealth of
nations.

16. Expedia Vacation Deprivation Report 2018 stated that India is


among the most vacation deprived nation in the world ranking 5th
among the 19 surveyed countries.

17. As per the 6th edition & 2019 version of India Skills Report,
Andhra Pradesh topped the list of states with the highest employability
followed by Rajasthan and Haryana.

18. In the 4th edition of a new NASSCOM - Zinnov report titled


“Indian Start-up Ecosystem 2018: Approaching Escape Velocity,”
India has been ranked the 3rd biggest start-up hub in the world. The top
spot has been held by US.

1. Seventh edition of the ‘International


Tourism Mart’ was held in Agartala,
Tripura. The theme for this year is “Adventure
Tourism”.

2. The India Rivers Week (IRW) 2018 was


organised by World Wide Fund for Nature-India (WWF), New Delhi.
The focus of this year’s three-day meet was ‘Can India Rejuvenate
Ganga?’. The Bhagirath Prayas Samman (BPS) 2018 was given to
Vishwanath Srikantaiah, and the Anupam Misra Medal 2018, for path
breaking media work on Rivers with focus on Ganga, was given away to
River Journalist Shri Arun Tiwari.

3. National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH), an


autonomous organization under Home Ministry, started observing the
Communal Harmony Campaign and Fund-Raising Week from 19th to 25th
November 2018.

4. 3rd India-Singapore Defence Minister dialogue (DMD) was


recently held in Visakhapatnam.

5. Indian Air Force (IAF) and US Air Force (USAF) will participate in
bilateral exercise ‘COPE INDIA 2019’ in December in West Bengal.

6. 12th biennial World Congress on Mountain Medicine commenced


in Kathmandu, Nepal. Theme: “Mountain Medicine in the Heart of the
Himalayas”.

7. The naval exercise Konkan 18 between India and United Kingdom


is being organised off Goa coast.

8. Sustainable Blue Economy Conference was held at Nairobi, Kenya


recently to advance the global conversation on the sustainable
development of the Blue Economy.

9. Second edition of India Gold and Jewellery summit was held in New
Delhi

Kurukshetra, Haryana in the month of December.

11. Three-day South Asia Regional Youth Peace Conference was


held in New Delhi as part 150th  birth anniversary celebrations of father of

Union) announced to host the 4-day 50th Union World Conference
on Lung Health in Hyderabad next year.

5. The committee formed for dealing with stressed thermal power


projects chaired by Cabinet Secretary P K Sinha has submitted its
recommendations. The committee recommended closing down of old,
inefficient thermal power units.

6. With an aim to bring back the tribal languages in circulation and prevent
them from vanishing, Odisha government released lexicons of 21
tribal languages for multilingual education (MLE) purposes for
elementary schools in tribal dominated districts.
7. Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Dr Rajat Kumar inaugurated a five-day
exhibition on “Our Vote- Our Future” in Hyderabad.

8. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath unveiled the


finalized details for the construction of a 221-metre long statue of

discovered in the northern Indian Ocean.

Punjab to international border with Pakistan. The Kartarpur Corridor will
facilitate pilgrims from India who visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib,
Kartarpur, on the banks of the Ravi River in Pakistan every year.

Rajgir in Nalanda district of state. The statue has been installed in the
