Salesforce Inc. is a cloud computing company in America, whose main headquarters is in

San Francisco, California. Salesforce deals with the sale of commercial applications of social

networks through internal development and acquisition. In this paper, we shall analyze and

discuss what makes Salesforce a 100 most admired company.

Trust is the main culture established at Salesforce. The organization keeps their culture

strong and healthy by being extremely purposeful about the Ohana. Thus, this culture makes

Salesforce one of the most admired, innovative, and best organization to work in the world.

Therefore, Salesforce is an Ohana of Innovators inclusive of communities, customers,

employees, and partners (Cohen, 2015). This means that the work collectively and in

collaboration to make the world a better place. The values at Salesforce connects and inspires all

those in partnership with the organization. Salesforce inspires the industry and one another

through its core values which are: equality, growth, innovation, and trust. Hence, these are the

values every single person in Salesforce Ohana to espouse.

The Ohana culture was created by the CEO of Salesforce Mark Benioff, as he was on his

vacation in Hawaii. The Ohana culture represents the ideas that blood-related families intentional

or adopted- are bound together, and that each family member is responsible for one another. Up

to date, the Salesforce Ohana is still deeply rooted in its foundation, and it is nurtured within the

entire organization. By following the norms of the Ohana culture, members of Salesforce have

fun together, take care of one another, and work hard to leave the world a better place than the

found it.

The Ohana culture has not been modified by changes in management. It has been of

importance that the company’s management to lead by example, and the other reason is that the

CEO Mark Benioff has made sure that his biggest priority is to strengthen the Ohana Groups. To

do so the Ohana community seeks to adhere to nine core values and they include growth, trust,

innovation, equality for all, giving back, fun, customer service, transparency, and wellbeing

(Cohen, 2015).

Nothing is more important than trust, this is because trust is the foundation of strong and

healthy relationships within any organization. Also, Salesforce is concerned with its customer's

success (Cohen, 2015). The main reason as to this is because the growth of the organization is

based on mutual success. When the customers grow, the staff grow, and the organization grows

as well. Salesforce is one of the most innovative companies in America, and this is because

thinking differently is in their DNA. Thus, their technology gives room for Creators to innovate

(Cheng et al., 2017). Salesforce through the Ohana culture has been able to promote equality.

They respect and value individuals of all backgrounds. Therefore, they believe that together they

are able to create a more equal and fair working environment in the world.

In addition, Salesforce upholds integrity in that it leads the teams in accordance with the

codes of conduct at all times. Similarly, they communicate openly, and this promotes

transparency. Each and every person in the Salesforce Ohana is always empowered to air out

their ideas and opinions. Furthermore, the V2MOM process helps the organization to stay

accountable, aligned, and focused to deliver their commitments to their customers. Lastly,

Salesforce ensures accountability by reporting their results regularly, and they use the lessons

learned to grow and to improve.

The pride of Salesforce is not only on award-winning technology, but its pride also lies in

the talent of its people. Salesforce Inc. has been thriving under the leadership and guidance of the

most experienced executives, and one of the greatest minds in the business field. Salesforce uses

a functional organizational structure, through this the organization is divided based on the

functional areas. The main advantage of this organizational structure adopted by Salesforce is

that functional departmentalization gives room for great operational efficiency since employees

who share knowledge and skills are paired together by function. The top management comprises

of the CEO and Board of directors, while the other departments are divided according to their

function. Each department has a leader who is responsible for managing it, and communication

occurs within the functional departments and it is transferred across all departments through the

head of the departments (Persons, 2015). Nevertheless, such kind of an organizational structure

does not lack its disadvantages. One of the cons of a functional organizational structure is that it

may be difficult for the various functional groups to communicate with each other. This,

therefore, reduces innovation and flexibility.

This organizational structure has in one way or another influenced the culture of

Salesforce. Through divisions into small departments, this has made it possible for the

employees of Salesforce to work together as a team and as a family. Each one of the departments

has a role to play in the overall success of the organization. Thus, the departments must work

interdependently with one another and this builds a strong bond of unity and teamwork which is

a virtue of the Ohana culture.

There is no information that contradicted the opinion that this is truly a company to be

“Admired.” As a matter of fact, Salesforce social responsibility is second to no other. Salesforce

has been awarded the world’s most protected cloud platform. Ever since its establishment in

1999, their CRM has only been breached once (Cheng et al., 2017). This is a clear sign that

Salesforce has the ability and capability to protect all its customers’ data, and they have been

making all their security information open record. Salesforce never achieved all of this just

through resource allocation or injecting time and money to these success pillars, rather it is all

about the organization DNA. From the start, the main goal of Salesforce was that success is their

top priority, and this is one of the reasons as to why the company is to be admired.

In conclusion, Salesforce is a company I would like to work for. Ever since I was young I

used to admire Salesforce Inc. and as I grew older my interest in this organization grew. It is no

lie that every individual wants to be a part of a well-established organization. Being voted top

100 most admired company is not an easy thing, since more than 3900 analysts, directors, and

executives sit down to analyze and choose the best companies. Being one of the best

organizations, Salesforce is true to its mission of offering the best service to its customers.

In addition, by upholding the core values of integrity, trust, accountability, and equity this

shows that the company cares not only about its operation but also about those who are working

for it. Correspondingly, the work environment of Salesforce Inc. is not an environment where

you see in most organizations. Salesforce offers a conducive working environment where

manages, partners, employees, and the community relate as one big family all thanks to the

Ohana Culture. Such kind of an environment makes the employees be more productive since

they enjoy their work. These are one of the million reasons why I would really love to work with

Salesforce.
