Love and care are important in our daily life. Everyone has people they love and we must take a good care of them like the way we love our family and our self. Just like Captain Ahab that love and care about his men. In chapter 9, Starbuck does not kill Captain Ahab even though he does not like him. One night, when Captain Ahab is sleeping in room, Starbuck has a chance to kill him with a gun but he was confused because he has duty to God and to himself. And if he does not kill his captain, it means he has to serve him till the end. However, he can’t do it and he leaves the room without killing him. This is shows that we should love for one another. Other themes that I found in this novel is care. This is shown by Captain Ahab as he saves Pip. When Pip is asked to join the whalers to go out on the boat to catch some whales, he is too afraid that he jumps off the boat for a few times. Stub and other whalers were not like it and they leave him in the sea. Later, the Pequod and Captain Ahab came and rescue Pip. Pip sees Captain Ahab as his God. From this incident, it shows that we should care about each other. Lastly, I found that the whalers work hard to get money for their families. Even though the whalers know that Captain Ahab has lost one of his legs to the dangerous white whale, they remain brave to go out and catch more whales for the money and gold. This scene shows that we should love our family no matter what wiil happen in the future. In conclusion, we must have a sense of love and care to each other even though we were in different position.
