Strengths of the lesson:

1. Very strong class management skills. But you lost the control in the last 10
minutes. It seems you got tired
2. Good math game using a dice to motivate the subtraction process.
3. Effective informative assessment activity.
4. Overall, I enjoyed your lesson.

Areas for development:

 I put (M) for your professionalism growth not based on your lesson or my
observation. It is based on what your MST informed me. You do not follow her
instructions, your time management is not great, your attendance is not perfect,
you come late sometimes. In some late days you do not come prepared to teach.
We met after your class, and I discussed this with you. It seems that you have a
strong case to be justified. I advise you to write it as a reflection to be submitted to
your professor. I will be happy to discuss it with Ms La Tonya if needed.
 You did not explain the hidden ideas behind the borrowing process. Example: you
explained 25-8=17 because we take one from 2 and give it to 5 becomes 15. Well,
adding 1 to 5 does not equal 15! This is a misconception that most teachers fall in.
Students should comprehend the process and recognize the place value of each
digit, and borrowing 1 from 2 means we are borrowing 1 ten from two tens. It
makes 5 fifteen. Performing the process (as a machine) does not lead to the deep
understanding of the operation, and as a consequence, more difficulties come later
in learning other arithmetic operation such as division, multiplication, and
exponents. The best way to clarify this misconception is using base ten blocks.
Students will be able to borrow and regroup, and visualize the place value
accordingly.

Strengths of the lesson:

 You started with a nice relaxing yoga activity. Great!

 Then you recalled what they have learned last class.
 Technology is used.
 Inquiry Based learning is used effectively.
 Great class management skills.
 All students are engaging having fun. Very beneficial!!
 Body language is facilitated.
 You designed a good activity for your students to make fossils. Students liked it.
 Very professional closing.

Areas for development:
1. The MST complained about the communication skills. You should communicate with you
MST effectively an in timely matter. Last week she asked you to teach the same lesson to
the other group an you refused because you do not have enough materials. To keep the
consistency in the learning outcomes, you need to teach it to all groups. You did not come
to school last week because your sick, but you have not communicate it with MST.
2. You asked students : What did they (dinosaurs) do to us? Students were confused. You
need to pay attention to how you question students.
3. You need to design the powerpoint in a different way.

Strengths of the lesson:

 She started her lesson by encouraging them to participate to get a lollipop.

 She is confident.
 She gave students very clear instructions to manage their behavior during
participation.
 Very nice warming up hands on activity.
 Effective inquiry-based learning. Great!!
 Technology is used.
 Powerful class management.
 She is encouraging students take a big role of learning process through
questioning, participation, and solving problems on the board.
 Differentiation is facilitated. The class is divided into three groups. Each group
was involved in a different activity, but very similar objectives.

Areas for development:

4. She is barefoot. Does not fit with professionalism.
5. The closing was not good. She should wrap up. After I discussed this with her, she said
that she has a closing activity, but she did not have time to do it. Always bad time
management.
