purpose: This unit standard is for people who are employed by the NZ
Police and who are, or seek to be, employed in the role of
police forensic photographers.
People credited with this unit standard are able to: provide
police forensic photography services; meet national and
district requirements for the provision of forensic
photographic services; and manage human resources,
including self, in the delivery of photographic services to
police.
3 Definitions
The prisoner image capture (PIMS) is the process for
photographing and storing the images of people
arrested by the NZ Police.
SOCO is the Scene of crime officer. The person who is
responsible for attending the crime scene for the
purpose of fingerprinting and forensic examination.
