LESSON REFLECTION
This semester we study about two curriculums IB PYP and EYFS curriculum. The school I
went to uses the EYFS curriculum, so I had to do some of my lesson plans based on the
EYFS curriculum.
The EYFS is a unique curriculum that has its own characteristics and strategies of learning.
It’s much different than the usual curriculum that we see in our government schools. EYFS
curriculum depends on four essential principles. 1- Every child is a unique child 2- Positive
relationships leads the children to be independent and strong 3 - Children learn and develop
ways and at different rates. Department of education. (2017). Moreover, the EYFS
curriculum states that children must have some opportunities to explore and learn in the
outdoor environment. Learning outside the classroom supports the child to have a healthy
and active lifestyle. By offering children opportunities for physical activities, freedom, and
On the other hand, I prepared this lesson plan at the college before the TP, it has some of the
EYFS structures and activities. When I taught this lesson, I did differentiation with the
activities because EYFS schools always use differentiation. Each activity depends on
student's levels. For example, (Sorting Buttons) activity is for the low ability students in the
I showed my MST the lesson plan, and I told her that I must write more than one learning
outcome in my lesson plan. She asked me to make the checklist for the students and to make
When I taught the lesson, I was confident because I prepared everything very well also
because I did my observation and I got the MCT's feedback about my previous lesson. So I
knew my weakness, and I tried so hard to fix them. I started the lesson with (Surat Alfatiha)

as they usually do. After that I played a video which is a warm-up song for the kids, they
really enjoyed it, and I enjoyed it too. Before starting the story, I showed them a box that has
some objects inside with (small, medium and large size). I told the students (Can you come
and guess what’s inside the box?) Then I chose one student to put his hand in the box and
guess what’s inside without seeing the objects. When the student guessed the objects I told
them for example: (This object is big it has a large size) and so on. Then I started the lesson
by saying the learning outcomes. I played the story, and I asked them many questions. The
The story was about Goldilocks and the three bears; I choose this story because its a lovely
story and it has some math concepts that children will learn during the story. It's essential to
connect between lessons in EYFS curriculums as I observed when the MST was giving the
lessons she always connected, for example, a science concept with a story or a math concept
with a science concept and so on. When I finished the story, I asked the students some
questions about the characters and the sitting of the story. After that, I explained the activities
and me divided the students into groups depending on their levels. I choose to make the
checklist with group C which includes the excellent students in the class. When they finished
the activities, I asked the excellent students to help the weak students if they need help. It's
good because it will make the excellent students confident and it will improve their learning.
At the same time, the weak students will learn in a way that they could understand easily.
Finally, I used the happy faces to help the students evaluate their understanding of the lesson
