Child Abuse

Imagine being harassed and being brutally abused by your loved one, someone you trust,

love and care about abuse you and treat you as an object. Child abusement must be a topic that

should be discussed and be given more awareness to stop and reduce child abusement in order to

protect our future and avoid more child to be harmed and beaten in the future. In most cases the

child's abuser is related , either being a parent or a close relative. Child Abusement can often be

found in homes where the child can be mentally and physically harmed and may lead to negative

and drastics changes to their children . According to the atricule Abuse and Neglect “fear,

instability and confusion replace the love, comfort and nurturing that children need. Abused

children live in constant fear of harassment from a person who they thought would love and

protect them. They may feel guilt at loving the abuser or blame themselves for causing the

violence” (Defining child abuse). Growing up in a toxic home as this can be catastrophic for the

child and can live there entire childhood believing they deserve to be treated poorly and down

the line can even lead to a domestic partner. Unfortunately some pick up on bad habits such as

poor self-esteem due to “... physical injuries that may be the result of abuse, child victims may

began to have eating disorders or sleep disturbances and include nightmares.”(Defining child

abuse)

Children growing up in a stable home differ from children growing up in a

domestic home may be easily stand out but yet can be extremely difficult to tell if the child is

actually be harassed at home. Growing up in an unstable home can also lack the support of

participating sports, clubs ,holidays, vacations etc. The basic needs of interactions of someone

youthful which can lead to isolating themselves from others which leads to having no friends.

Growing up in a stable home builds confidence and making the child more interactive with

others and having a sense of trust as compared to someone that struggles building that trust due

to the unstable home .

“1 victim in 2 abused during childhood Tries to commit suicide." ( National

Clearinghouse on Child Abuse and Neglect Information) The attempt of suicide in child abuse is

unbelievably high as half of the abused children attempt of suicide is a great indicator it should

be taken more seriously and should have more awareness to the world then ever . “having been

subjected to violence in childhood can result in the loss of up 20 years of life expectancy if

several types of violence are combined.”(National Clearinghouse on Child Abuse and Neglect

Information) The youth of the abused is also not given the opportunity to grow and live a fulling

life as others but instead can take the lead of crime which is unfair since they never really had the

opportunity. It also increases the chance for the child to start smoking at a early age as well as

drinking and eventually lead to depression.

Young girls deal with greater issues such as rape that “Worldwide 1 in 10 girls

under the age of 18 has been raped amounting of 120 million.”("Defining Child Abuse.)

Unfortunate for young girls they have a bigger issue than young boys and that's pregnancy. Due

to their abusers sexually harassment where it can lead to having a child to young for their age

causing their lives while baring the child. Regardless of the unwanted pregnancy several bad

habits can picked along the way such as having multiple sex partners, early sexual realationships

and even sexuality transmitted diseases acording to the atricule National Clearinghouse on Child

Abuse and Neglect Information.

It’s important to understand that child abusement is happening everyday , every 5

seconds a child has died due to child abusement, 59 percent is child neglect “1 out 3 girls

and 1 out of 5 boys will be sexually abused before they reach the age of 18”(National

Clearinghouse on Child Abuse and Neglect Information) We must make this a bigger

deal then what it really is since it is dealing with the future and punish those for there

crimes, child harassment isn't a face its toxic for children under age and most be put a

stop and reduce the numbers and educate others as well as to recognize when a child may

not be in the most comforting home. A change must be brought forth and the reduction of

those young ones mistreated must be downsized.
