Okay boys and girls eyes on me
Today we will learn about the ecosystem – specifically on how people effect the eco system
In the ecosystem there are different types of animals and plants.
We have different types of environments
We have rain forest/desert/
We will learn how humans change these environments
The first word we will learn is Deforestation – what do you think happens?
No trees will be in the forest? What do you think will happen to environment? The animals cannot
survive? What will happen to animals – they will die – we call it a habitat
Pollution – is when people destroy the environment? What do you see in the picture?
Over fishing – there is something that people do (they take all the fish) they will die…
We learned about animals – can someone give me an example of the sea
Can someone give me an example of sea animals that live in the sea?
Student – shark – wales- fish
When we do a lot of activities in the water they will pollute and they
Now everyone will have an activity in the tables
Explanation of the centers is lacking – create environment in the sea
How is the environment before – then we will start to pollute the water – no discuss on what actually
pollutes the water?
Can you put some waters in the cup – grammar
123 eyes on me
You have this paper – I want you first to think- we pour water – how can we describe this water – we
can see the water is clear.
It would have helped if you explained this when you talked about pollution.
You gave them the sentences – so where is the thinking here? Instead of giving them the answer you
should be asking questions to guide them?
The MST was walking around asking the students questions to guide them – you should be following
her lead.
11:23
So we learned that fishes can swim in the water – the water is clean so that will help them.
SO we will do an experiment and see how we can pollute the water?
Here we need to actually explain to students what the brown coloring represents – by asking
questions and explaining what actually pollutes the water.
Groups 1 & 3 we are going to start to pollute the water – I don’t quite understand what the students
are doing.
Implementation – questioning
When did the students form a hypothesis?
11:30
I saw your experiments and I saw what you wrote on your paper?
Who wants to share? Can you tell us what you did?
We see how the water change the color?
When the water change what we call it?
We call it pollution ( I don’t think they quite understand this concept) because it wasn’t properly
explained to them?
When you put the color what happened?
What will happen to the animals?
They will die ?
It is not clean?
You need to make this more relatable so students actually understand?
I will show you some pictures of pictures – if the environment is clear – pictures of animals effected
by pollution.
Look at this picture
What do you think happened – picture of bird effected by polluted water
Maybe the oil -
WHat do you see in this picture – what happened in to this turtle? Why do you think she will
die? What do you think will happen if we throws a lot of things in the water – the animal will
eat it and it will die?
What do you see in this picture? Do you see an animal in this picture?
Picture of lake with garbage and ducks?
This is a safe environment?
What caused the bird to become black? Maybe oil
Students answer to everything is he will die…

So today we learned about the ecosystem – anyone want to share

How animals die ??
When they eat something dirty?
Maha said we don’t throw things in the water cause the animals will die.
How animals are effected by dirty things.
Areas for development:

Explanation of centers
Explanation of what makes pollution
Instructions on the sheet are lacking
Questioning to guide students.

I will give you words to use to describe the water - you could have showed them pictures of water
and have them describe the water.

Questions to consider – could the whole class do the same experiment

More instruction needed for experiment.
