Problem Statement

Over the last few years the behavioral aspects of our young generation have changed due

to factors like increase in academic competition, unemployment in the market and the difficult

condition of the country itself has caused the young generation to be very pessimistic towards

their future. Due to factors like these they are more stressful and have a very negative approach

towards the society.

Why Chosen?

We chose this topic because we consider that it is a right time to shed some light on this

situation. Many students make bad career choices especially in the early college/university days

when they’re supposed to select a major a program. They don’t take into account what they are

passionate about or what their interests are until it’s too late. These kinds of problems pave

further way for mental and developmental problems including depression and malnutrition.

And its not just limited to career problem, students come across a lot of other problems

such as personal, parental, self confidence, being not able to speak out correctly and congruently

and many more. We need to investigate and look into such matter if we want our young

generation to have and lead a successful and happy life.

Significance

Counselling and Guidance are vital for youngsters, and schools/Colleges have a

tremendous job in drawing out the best in their kids. Even today, when choosing a professional

field or finding out interest couldn’t be any easier because of the diversities in the professional

world, and when lots of focus (today) is put on team building, individuals are somewhere lagging

behind. We should also focus on individual development and that’s where importance of

counselling and guidance comes out.

There are a number of factors (including peers, family, sexual problems etc.) that are

either the cause of or effect of the aforementioned problem. We therefore need to find some

solution to mitigate them and be able to resolve the problems of the students by emphatically

listening to them.
