Ivan’s Life

Monday morning again! I always wake up early on school days. My alarm clock
rings at 7.30 but I usually have a lie in for about ten minutes. I get out of bed at
7.40. I have a shower and then I brush my teeth. For breakfast I usually have
cereal, but sometimes I have juice and toast. I often ride my bike to school, but
when I’m late, my dad drives me. I get to school at 8.30.

Classes start at 8.45. My first lesson today is maths with Mr Devons and then I
have history at 9.30 with Mrs Grey. I like history because Mrs Grey is my favourite
teacher, but I don’t like maths. I have a break from 11.10 to 11.30 and I usually play
football with my friends Dan and Grant in the school playground. Lunch is at 1.00. I
sometimes bring a sandwich to school, but today is Burger Day in the canteen and
I always eat in the canteen on Burger Day! In the afternoon I have three more
lessons and school finishes at four.

I’m free! On Tuesdays and Thursdays I go swimming from 4.30 to 5.30. I’m in the
local swimming club. I always win the races ... well, OK, sometimes I win. On

Mum, Dad and my brothers Tom and Jake at 6.30. After that I usually chat online or

And it’s Friday ... school is finished for the week! On Friday nights I have a
photography class with Mr Coombs from six to seven and then I usually go and
watch films at my friend Pete’s house. I’m always home by 10 o’clock. On

Saturdays my friends come to my house and we play chess or spend time online.
On Sundays I watch TV with my family in the afternoons. In the evening I do my
homework for Monday.

Hi, everyone! I wanted to tell you about some of the cool books and stories I read
last summer while I was staying at my aunt’s house in Australia. I also wanted to
talk to you about a fantastic book fair I went to at the weekend in London.
At the beginning of the summer, in early June, I read a(n) (1) __________ story. It
was about a man and a woman who really wanted to be together, but weren’t
because they lived in different countries – the man lived in the USA and the woman
lived in Russia. In the end, the man went to Russia to find the woman. When he
found her, she was working in a terrible little restaurant. When the man and woman
saw each other, the woman cried and so did I!
My cousin gave me a book for my birthday on 30th June. It was a fantastic
(2) __________ story about a very bad man, a map, a gun and two beautiful young
women. While the women were looking for some treasure, the man caught them
and ... Wait! I don’t want to tell you the ending. Read it yourself!
I read one book in July and two in August. In July I bought a book that had lots of
(3) __________ stories in it. One night while I was reading it in the garden, I
screamed! The book scared me but I really liked it. The first book I read in August
was called Who Did It?. It was a great (4) __________ story about a woman called
Inspector Shirley Holmes and a man who was hiding something – something
terrible! Sounds interesting, doesn’t it? When I was on the plane travelling home to
England from Australia, I started and finished a book about aliens and strange
spaceships. It was an amazing (5) __________ story and I loved it. I think it was
the best book I read all summer.
And, finally, the London Book Fair! See! I didn’t forget to write about it. It was at 45
Berwick Street and there were more than twenty famous writers there. The book
fair was on Saturday, 2nd September. It began at 9am and ended at 6pm I got
there at 9.30 and didn’t leave until the very end! While I was waiting to buy a book
by Ian Rankin, the detective story writer, William Gibson, the science fiction writer,
wrote his name on one of his books and gave it to me! How cool is that?! Post your
