position in Ayden she taught

‘Mrs, Dennis grew up in
‘Ayden, one of the daughters

‘of Mr. and Mrs, LB Kinlaw.
Her brother Warten Kinlaw,
‘and sisters Joyee Hudson and
Neva Edwards are also local
residents, She is married to J.
D. Dennis, rural mail carrier
‘and farmer, and has one
daughter, Holly, a junior at
‘Meredith’ College. Some of
hher favorite pastimes fi
her chosen vocation
traveling and reading.
ACTIVE . . . Irma Woodworth, local resident
and artist, has become actively involved in the
‘School Volunteer Porgram at Ayden Elementary
School. A new member of the school's team of
Listeners, she was recently recruited to share her
talents with two groups of fourth graders. When
the regular art teacher found it necessary to be
away, Mrs. Woodworth graciously accepted the
challenge to fill in for her. By the end of her stay
with them, each child had made his own “window

Book Week At Ayden Elementary School
American Rdueation Week and National Children's Book
Week. have not gone by unnoticed at Ayden Elementary
School, Ms. Carol Swain, media specialist for the schol
coordinated a week of atvities that dlighte the partcpanis
ot all ages. On Monday, the Student Library Aides, a group of
Sn fourth graders who asist the librarian, dressed as thelr
favorite book characters and visited the classrooms to
announce the schoolwide events for the week, They also
asisted in serving refreshments tothe satin the rary.
‘On Tuesday, two special Walt Disney, flms ened
Treasure Island” and’ "The Adventure of J. Thadeus Toad
were scheduled for classes all through the day. Wednesday's
Sutvity was a dsplay of new books just purchased for the
Sool. Volunteers were brought into action Thursday as
Bernie Fowler, Vie Wilson and Rita Bosse joined members of
the staff to entertain clases at their regularly scheduled
library periods. On Friday, many children and teachers
Gress as characters from favorite stories. Nancy Mize, Judy
Shigey and Fred Wilson were judges for best costumes among
the elaseroom winners, Is reading important? Can tbe fun?

goose), Cinderella, Heidi and the Wicked Witch of
