1.0 Introduction

The vegetative clearing of all effluent ponds were initiated by mill management in
responding to DOE’s Guided-Self Regulation (GSR).

The mill management had proposed to the top management at Head Office and the
proposal had been adopted and approved by the top management to clear all the
vegetative growth at the inner side of the bunds of effluent ponds i.e. Aerobic Ponds
1&2; Anaerobic Ponds 1, 2, 3 & 4 and Drying Beds 1&2.

2.0 Observation and Results

The first effluent pond that carried out clearing of vegetative growth was done on
18th November 2016 and it had completed on the same day. (Refer to
Photographs 1(a) and 1 (b) and 1 (c)).

2.1. This work was carried out by Everland Earthworks Constructions by using long-arm
excavator. (Refer to Appendix 1: Everland Earthworks Constructions D.O. Number
23958) .

3.0 Review and Comments.

This vegetative clearance job was done in conjunction to comply with DOE’s GSR
Implementation which was first implemented on 22nd of July 2016. Beside, this is a
good housekeeping and maintenance practice in order to ensure that the path
surrounding the ponds are safe to be through during site visit by DOE’s officers or
even our worker.
