management strategies during the first weeks of school. Pariser recommends educators to set
routines and structures early within the first week of school, and urges teachers to keep them.
Pariser explains that students form good habits in the classroom when teachers establish routines
and set clear expectations for behavior and participation (p. 5). An established routine makes
students feel comfortable and successful. Set expectations within the classroom ultimately helps
foster an effective learning environment, where students can collaborate and feel supported by
their peers.
An educator must understand each student’s individuality if they seek to create a viable
learning environment. Pariser explains that misbehaviors occur when students are either
academically under challenged or over challenged without academic support (p.22). In order to
eliminate misbehaviors and create an effective learning environment, the teacher must know
their students’ academic skills, learning abilities and disabilities, language barriers, and
personalities. After knowing each individual, the teacher can design an effective seating chart
that will enable students to receive the appropriate conditions they need to learn. There are
various strategic ways to organize students of different abilities, needs, and personalities.
Teachers must keep in mind students with IEPs, ELLs, SSTs, and other personality disorders if
they want the classroom to succeed in collaboration and academic success. Overall, students

classroom and demonstrate their greatness. According to Pariser, the teacher must acknowledge
the power they have to influence the atmosphere within the classroom (p.40). Teachers are
emotional leaders that should radiate positive energy. A happy mood is contagious and will most
likely create an environment where students are happy and eager to learn.
Pariser highlights various important strategies that pertain to classroom management, but
many of those strategies also relate to creating and maintaining an effective learning
environment. The aforementioned strategies are skills that all teachers should understand if they
