In year 4, we have been learning about
teeth as a part of our science lessons. To
look further into the effects of sugar on
teeth, we investigated different types of
drinks and the effect it has on our teeth
by using eggshells as a substitute. We
predicted as a class that coke would
have the worst effect and predicted
water would have no effect. After two
weeks we examined the eggshells and
found that our predictions were correct
and coke did have the worst effect on
eggshell and water had no effect. This
was because of the high level of sugar in
coke which eroded the shell.Blue Gate Fields Junior School

Throughout the Autumn term, Class 7 have enjoyed the privilege
of working with artist-in-residence, Liz.
During these sessions we have been noticing shape and pattern,
perspective, shadowrs, contours and how all of the details interact,
in order to draw a variety of different objects. These have ranged
from small toys, to textured materials which extended our
thinking about the Autumn Term science topic, Materials.
This week we painted beautiful, rosy pomegranate chunks beside
vibrant slices of lemon. Some of us managed to blend dense, rich
colours and. use very thin lines to illustrate our page with what
we saw in front of us.
