I have selected these articles because these articles have a strong relation with the selected theme.
And these articles provide the effective planning and development for the controlling security
issues of the World Expo 2020.

Theme II: Need for maintaining quality security during Expo 2020

Article I

Objective of the Study

The main purpose of this study is to understand why the quality security at the Expo is important
for a successful event. And how the assurance of quality security will attract tourists from all over
the world to attend this World Expo (Jauncey & Nadkarni, 2014).

Methodology of the Research

The majority of authors who contributed in the publication of this research have lived and
researched about different aspects of Dubai for many years. All these authors have seen the
downturn of economy from 2008 and now seeing the emergence of strong economy based on
tourism and this is only possible if the security risks are eliminated. In order to achieve our aim of
strong security this study focusses on establishing a strong strategy keeping in view the
international affairs of Dubai. The study does not challenge the rights of Dubai to protect its
boundaries from terrorists, but it highlights the travel restrictions that can be imposed on the
specific states.

security can make the event successful and these articles also describe my theme well.
Theme III: Best practices to mitigate the security risks of Expo 2020

Article I

Objective of the Study

The aim of this study is that in order to provide future national security to its people, UAE must
prepare a grand strategy based on the concepts of inter-state and intra- governmental cooperation
among all national and military jointness (Rashedi, 2005).

Methodology of the Study

The study analyzes the current available capabilities of national and regional security. Actually
UAE is a small country with limited human resources and it cannot defend its borders from major
attack by neighboring countries without help from other countries like UK and USA. But this
problem can be minimized if UAE focuses on joint military training based on air, land and sea
defenses. And by buying new advanced weapons and communication technology.

Results of the Study

The results of this study shows that UAE can make its national security stronger than before if it
tries to train its soldiers with military of other advanced countries and by improving their war
technology.

Article II

Objective of the Study

The goal of this study is to understand the present national security status of UAE and what steps
are being taken to improve the security of the country (Davidson, 2009).

Methodology of the Study

It is analyzed in this study that Abu Dhabi which is the wealthiest state emirate of UAE has built
up the armed forces in past decades by arranging some of the finest military hardware. However
these security capabilities are not enough to counter the threats from Iran and other Arab countries.
But no doubt that this work of building the well-equipped army has reduced the threat of foreign
invasion.
Results of the Study
It is concluded from this study that UAE can mitigate the security threats by solving the disputes
with neighbor and by improving the standard of army and by creating joint staff for the armed
forces. And there is a need of establishing the emirates national security council in order to bring
all the national securities agencies on one forum.

Article III

Objective of the Study

The aim of this study is to provide ways of confronting the security threats posed by Iran and
provide ways how to mitigate these threats in order to provide fool proof security for the event of
World Expo (Kostiner, 2010).

Methodology of the Study

This study analyzes the history of relations between Iran and UAE because in past few years there
are some terrorist activities that occur in UAE and these activities proved the involvement of Iran.
UAE tried to halt Iran’s nuclear development program, because it is the need of the hour. The
reason for the UAE and Iran dispute is based on many factors that is on religious basis and
territorial basis. And steps must be taken in order to resolve the dispute and UAE is also working
with other countries to stop the nuclear program of Iran otherwise Iran can become very dangerous
to other small and weak states like UAE.

Results of the Study

The results of this study show that by improving relations with other countries and by halting the
nuclear program of Iran by introducing efficient campaigns on electronic media and by showing
the terror of Iran to the world in effective manner.

These articles were selected because they describe the security issues of UAE and what steps must
be taken to mitigate the security threats and how policies must be devised to introduce a top level
of security for the World Expo 2020.
Theme IV: Challenges in executing the security strategies

Article I

Objective of the Research

Counter radicalization and Counter terrorism are the main concerns for UAE, which are constantly
threatened by extremist groups which includes ISIL, Hizballah and Al-Qaeda. This study discusses
the challenges that come into play while executing the security strategies (Ibish, 2017).

Methodology of the Study

It was discussed and reviewed in this study that which aspects can promote terrorism in the country
and what are the steps being taken by the government to restrict these issues. The internet access
in UAE is regulated by federal law according to which there is a restriction to prohibited sites that
display false information about religious ideas, which can become one of the reason for terrorism
in country.

Results of the Study

The results of this study show that UAE needs to introduce more restrictions of internet and there
is a need to keep a close look on the foreign espionage activities by making more strong laws for
terrorists.

Article II

Objective of the Study

This study discusses the UAE’s foreign policy and its disputes with the neighbors and how these
disputes are a great threat to the Expo 2020. This study also focus on the reason of these disputes
and how it can be solved or minimized (Foley, 1999).

Methodology of the Research

There is a deep research done by the author to understand the political and border disputes of UAE.
At present UAE has territorial disputes with Iran, Qatar and Oman. And there are some conflicts
with Saudi Arabia in the past. After some research the most dangerous dispute is with Iran over
three gulf islands: the greater and lesser Tunb and Abu Musa.
Results of the Study
The results of this study shows that by doing table talks and by improving the foreign relations and
introducing good changes in foreign policies of UAE these threats can terminated and can lead to
a successful event of Expo without any tension on the borders.

Article III

Objective of the Study

The aim of this study is to discuss the risks that foreign labor poses to the security of the UAE in
general and mainly on the World Expo. Due to discovery of oil the UAE economy has boosted
and UAE has taken help from other countries in form of labor (ALZAABI, 2012).

Methodology of the Research

This study uses the method to do the analysis of crime reports and rate of crime that is done by the
foreign labor in UAE. The reports included the increase in percentage of different crimes like
drugs, violation of immigration laws and domestic and public crime like robbery and theft. Data
was collected by the crimes done by the foreign labor for past few years.

Results of the Research

It was concluded that there was an increase in rate of crime because of foreign labor. And it was
also suggested that intelligence agencies must keep a look on these foreign workers and must not
tolerate any suspicious activity.

I selected these articles because they highlights the main security challenges that UAE has to
consider in order to execute the security strategies effectively in the region during and after the
Expo 2020. These articles describes the relations of UAE with its neighbors and how it poses a
threat to the security of event.
Conclusion

In past few decades Dubai has transformed from a small under develop city to one of the biggest
cosmopolitan cities in the world. The World Expo is a great opportunity for Dubai to showcase
their traditions and talents and for this successful event security must be modernized and in order
to achieve this goal every department of the country must play their role in providing the high
levels of security along with the governmental entities. The role of Dubai police and organizations
like Dark Matter must be exemplary in order to organize a peaceful event in the country.
