EPILUX 78 HIGH BUILD EPOXY ZINC PHOSPHATE PRIMER

PRODUCT SCOPE

Berger Epilux-78 High Build Zinc Phosphate Primer is an excellent anti-corrosive epoxy based
primer for use on blast cleaned steel surfaces. It is a high build coating and is normally applied
after fabrication. It provides an exceptionally extended protection to exposed steel work and is
ideally used when the storage of work is prolonged. This coating also provides abrasion
resistance and protection against handling. Epilux 78 Primer meets specification of APIA in
performance of BS5493. It can be used on Storage Tanks, Structural Steel Work, Chemical Plants,
Pipelines, Cranes, Water Works, Off-Shore Under-Decks, Working Decks, Accommodation
Externals and Industrial Steel Structures.
PRODUCT COMPOSITION

Berger Epilux 78 High Build Zinc Phosphate Primer is composed of special epoxy resins blended
with Zinc Phosphate type of Anti-Corrosive Pigment. Blend of inert extenders make it suitable
for usage as primer for a variety of purposes.

SURFACE PREPARATION

· Surface must be free from dust, dirt, oil, grease, rust and any loose, flaking matter.
· Degrease the surface with Epoxy Thinner.
· Non-Ferrous Surfaces must be prior applied with Berger 2 Pack Wash Primer.

STORAGE AND HANDLING PRECAUTIONS

o Keep away from Heat and Spark Sources

o Keep under shed, away from direct sunlight
o Keep the containers closed in storage
o Never breath the Dust, Mist, Gas, Vapors from the container
o Donot apply during Rain/Fog/Mist/Wind or when the temperature is below 10 °C or above
40 °C.
o Use the paint in ventilation
o Store below 35 °C for best performance
o As long as container is firmly sealed and stored under recommended storage conditions,
product can be used within 12-Months of manufacturing date.

SAFETY AND PRECAUTIONS

o Avoid prolonged and repeated contact with skin

o Avoid prolonged inhalation
o Never try to ingest the product
o Always use Safety items, Goggles, Mask, Gloves, Apron for Personal Safety
o Donot use the product in congested or poor ventilated areas

FIRST AIDS

In Case Of Eye Splashes

§ Wash with plenty of Flowing Cold Water
§ Immediately consult the physician
In Case Of Inhalation (If the Person Feels Dizziness or Unconsciousness)
§ Remove the person to Open Fresh Air Area
§ Provide artificial breathing if needed
§ Consult a Doctor
In Case Of Ingestion
§ Drink Plenty of Water or Milk
§ Donot induce vomiting
§ Consult a doctor
In Case Of Skin Contact (If Irritation Is Felt)
§ Wash with plenty of Water and Soap
§ Consult a doctor if irritation continues
 SPILLAGE HANDLING

Ø Donot wipe the place with solvent.

Ø Use Wood Saw Dust and Sand and thoroughly spread on the spilled paint.
Ø Gather the mixture, store in some waste drum and dispose-off according to local
environment regulations
Ø Never throw out the paint in open garbage areas where fire is a norm
