This instruction outlines the procedure for computer engraving nameplates, lenses, key-
tops, etc.

5.0 PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS
5.5 Choose proper cutter speed as per Table III. Leave at 3 for ordinary engraving.
5.6 Apply a few drops of lubricant (as per Table III) onto the material.
5.7 For engraving machine operation and set-up procedures refer to appropriate machine
manual.
6.2 For more than one line of text, center with equal line spacing.
6.3 Choose the stroke depth and stroke width (for the specified character spacing) from Table
I.
6.4 Condense or expand characters 70% minimum width in 10% increments up to 150%.
6.6 Choose engraving mode; normal, reverse (depending on material engraved), or an axis
swap.
6.7 If French accents are required on uppercase characters, they can be engraved by
machine. Ensure there is an allowance for space on the nameplate, or use proper font.
6.8 Chip Collector needs to be turned on manually while engraving the nameplate. Use a soft-
bristle brush to clear away chips while engraving.

6.9 Fill the characters (with lacquer stick or paint) in accordance with engineering drawing
and/or as requested by Manufacturing Engineering.
6.10 Apply double-sided masking tape and trim as per request on drawing.
7.2 For text with multiple lines, center with equal line spacing.
7.7 Fill characters if necessary (depending on material used) with lacquer sticks (Table IV) or
paint. For clear lenses, fill with a black lacquer stick.
8.0 STENCILS
8.1 Set the squeeze/expand (SQD/EXP) to 120 and inter-character spacing (ICS) to 150.
These settings may be changed if required.
Note: CAD programs cannot be altered except for overall dimensions, baselines and
margins.
8.2 Install backing on table, then load material. (Note: Scanned programs can be modified)
9.1 Select "Stop Engraving" in the job setup screen, type in <"Yes">.
9.4 Click on Engrave icon; do not have to reset if power is not turned off while using same
material.
