Maxim Balan

Morning! Or G’day!

Today I will be talking about my experience in Origins high school, my decision in choosing my

career, my drive and motivation to succeed. In other words, the story behind it. My name is Maxim

Balan. I am what you call an overachiever, a massive procrastinator, a slacker, or overconfident

personnel. Many of these things may be false or simply misleading about who I am, or what is my

image, my defined purpose? I like to call myself a T or X shaped person. For those who may not know

what a T or an X shaped person is. It is a category in which you can classify yourself based on your

characteristics or amount of knowledge you have available on demand on certain subjects. For example,

a T person knows a little bit of a broad amount of topics and has one topic in which he or she specializes

in or knows better than the rest. An X person is someone who is able to both be educated in topics and

also take the leadership action. Now to clarify I decided to classify myself as an X person. Because I

contain both qualities. If I must I can take the leadership position and I am able to have enough

broadened knowledge to be able to be diverse in many aspects or fields. How does this connect to my

choice of career?

I choose to serve in the medical field. More specifically a cardiac surgeon. When one serves as a

cardiac surgeon his responsibilities triple compared to a regular person. This is where my characteristic

comes in. When in origins, you can quickly learn what matters and how you should adopt. For example,

my freshman year I needed to understand what greatly impacted my education and what was worth

focusing my energy on. I understood this and adapted very well in a classroom environment. In origins

high school the amount of testing material is considerably low until I reached my junior year. This year
stood out considerably more in the intensity of work and load or amount of work. In certain classes, it

has very much increased in comparison and there is more existent pressure. This reciprocates to my

career choice as both do have stressful and very intense roles. This is where my character comes into

play. As a person who identifies himself as an X personnel. I can speak confidently this is an asset in my

career and school work. Countless times I can show evidence of this leadership and knowledge in a

broad amount of study being exposed as situations become difficult.

When in a medical career, when training to become a surgeon. You must take the responsibility

to become the first engage when performing surgery. As a surgeon, you will be responsible for your

team, your patient, and the quality/aftermath of the surgery. Similarly in school whenever I work in a

group or team and we are due to present an assignment or a powerpoint or google slide presentation I

usually represent my group and their hard work. Just like in the surgery room it is important to

recognize all the steps in a successful surgery much alike as a successful group project. The surgeon is

the one who presents the final product and gets held responsible as the initial voice to any question or

as the speaker of the message initially.

This is all represented as Interpretation just like in the room the surgeon is presented with a

problem. Showing once more that X quality. The surgeon not only has to understand the problem

presented but to know how to perform a certain surgery. And his or her team is required to participate

and to help the surgeon in the project. In origins, this is one of the things I was often told to refine and

every time I got the chance to present I took it and tried to do my best based on the knowledge I had

available to me on demand. At the time. It is a simple fact that interpretation matters greatly in origins

as this is one of the important standards which are listed. This greatly influenced me to be as accurate as

possible in my comprehension when making such decisions on how I should present and making sure
the information I was presenting was accurate. Much like a surgeon, I have to deeply analyze my past

works and reflection to identify and prevent errors from occurring in my works. In origins, this standard

taught me a lot. It taught me it is important to understand an assignment, obstacle and or problem

before solving it. And based on this understanding of interpretation, I kept on providing evidence of my

work being refined to fit all of the standards of the rubric.
