INSTRUCTIONAL PLAN IN ENGLISH

(WRITING)
I.OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson,the students shall have:
- written simple and accurate news reports

II.SUBJECT MATTER
Skills: Writing simple and accurate news reports
Topic: News report
Materials: meta strips, blackboard, chalk, pictures
Reference: English Expressways pp. 66-65
Domain of Literacy: Writing

III.PROCEDURE
A. Pre-writing
1. Simple Recall
Recall the previously learned topic about different propaganda
devices.
2. Motivation
The teacher will post a picture. Let the students write and
describe on a one fourth sheet of paper what the newscaster is doing and talking.
The teacher will then ask some volunteer students to read their answers.
3. Unlocking of Difficulties
Let the students unlock the meaning of news by giving
synonymous words that could be associated with that word.
4. Key Points
Give some pointers and guidelines in writing news report.
B. Writing Proper
Let the students wtite a news report with this given lead
paragraph:
"San Jacinto National High School received an award for being
chosen as the Model School in Region V last monday, September 26, 2016 at
8:30 in the morning."
C. Post writing
 1. Engagement Activity
Let the students present their write-ups in a reporting
manner.
2. Skills Development
Divide the class into four groups. Let each group write and
present a news reporting with the following topics:
G1- A fire in your barangay
G2- An extraordinary child becomes a hero in your town
G3- A barangay beauty pageant is conducted
G4- A school launches a program on caring the environment
3. Literary Extender
Write a short report on your performance in school.
4. Valuing
What part of our body is involved in writing? Why is it
important to wash/clean them everyday? ( Health )
IV. EVALUATION
Write a simple news report about the drug prevention program in your
town using the following ideas:
What: Oplan Tokhang
When: June 01, 2016 - present
Where: San Jacinto
Why: To prevent drug abuse
How: By arresting drug abusers, by information dissemination
V.ASSIGNMENT
Watch some TV anchors and broadcasters. Describe how they project
and deliver the news report.
