Scope: -

Suhana Masale is a big company in Pune. The scope of study is to learn the
production process and making of various spices.It is aimed at enlightening the
company about different steps to be taken upto increase production with regards
other competitors and also to make the company to provide better production
techniques. The scope of study is only confined to the area covered under Pune
district and only confined in studying about production process of Suhana Masala.

Introduction

India, known as the home of spices, boasts a long history of trading with the
ancient civilization of Rome and China. Today, Indian spices are the most sought-
after globally, given their exquisite aroma, texture, taste and medicinal value. India
has the largest domestic market for spices in the world. Traditionally, spices in
India have been grown in small land holdings, with organic farming gaining
prominence in recent times. India is the world's largest producer, consumer and
exporter of spices; the country produces about 75 of the 109 varieties listed by the
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and accounts for half of the
global trading in spices.

Export highlights and key markets

1. Total spices export from India stood at 1.08 billion kgs, valued at US$ 3.11
billion in the year 2017-18. Between Apr-Oct 2018, 621.98 kgs of spices worth
US$ 1.84 billion have been exported.

2. Top 10 importers of Indian spices between Apr-Oct 2018 were the US, China,
Vietnam, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Thailand, UK, UAE, Malaysia and Sri Lanka

3. During 2017-18, top 10 exported spices and spice products in terms of value
were Chilli, Mint products, Spice Oils & Oleoresins, Cumin, Turmeric, Pepper,
Curry powders/paste, Cardamom seeds, other spices (Tamarind, Asafoetida, and
Cassia) and Garlic.

SPICES BOARD OF INDIA

The Spices Board of India works towards the development and worldwide
promotion of Indian spices. It provides quality control and certification, registers
exporters, documents trade information and provides inputs to the central
government on policy matters. The board participates in major international fairs
and food exhibitions to promote Indian spices, apart from organizing various
domestic events.

year also in 30th edition of Aahar 2015 – One of the largest specialized B2B events

inaugurated by Hon’ble Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, Smt.
Harsimrat Kaur Badal on March10, 2015 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Over 807

source the very best ingredients from the finest spice growing destinations in India.
Then, we blend and package all of our products on-site in our facilities so that we
can closely control the content and quality
1999, third-generation of the business, Vishal Chordia took over the reins of the
Company. Realising that the masala industry had moved from a seller’s to a
buyer’s market, he led the management team to undertake massive branding
exercises.

In 2001, a large and state-of-the-art Research & Development Cell was set up.
In 2004, Rajkumar’s younger son Anand Chordia, who has a Masters in Food
Technology joined the company and began looking after the back-end operations.

In 2007, the management started penetrating the exports segment significantly.


They would then and continue to this day, fly down to various countries to
understand the specific needs of the markets.

Today, Suhana products are exported to 21 countries across 5 continents.


In 2007-08, the Company launched ready-to-cook spices, for which it was pioneer
in India.

We are now in the process of launching sales directly through our website as
well.
Today, we spread ourselves quite wide. As long as there’s someone wanting to

with interacting with customers on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, as we are
with dealing directly with super-stockists, distributors, retailers and consumers in
rural India.
