abeyance until further order.
However, the notice added that
any emigrant wanting to register

registration for Non-ECR pass-
port holders with employment

vides an immense opportunity
for cross-referrals, which may
eventually lead to the integra-
tion of different systems of med-
icine.
In addition, the ministry is
also supporting the efforts of
state governments in setting up
of up to 50-bedded integrated
AYUSH hospitals in various
parts of the country so that the
people may get more AYUSH
healthcare facilities, said the
minister.

HE Ministry of Steel has
ensured placement of or-
ders for domestic iron &
steel to the tune of ` 8,129 crore
from June 2017 to October
2018. The Ministry of Railways,
ONGC, GAIL, EIL and HPCL
have placed orders with domes-
tic iron & steel manufactures for
various categories of rails, pipes
and tubes. These products were
earlier imported, but are now be-
ing procured from domestic pro-
ducers.
Discussions are on with the
Ministry of Railways to increase
consumption of rails manufac-
tured indigenously either
through SAIL or other domestic
manufactures. Efforts are also
being made to onboard sectors
like defence and Central Public
Works Department so that use
of steel products manufactured
in India grows.
In order to give preference
to domestically-manufactured
iron & steel products (DMI&SP)
in government procurement, the
Ministry of Steel promulgated a
policy, which was notified on
May 8, 2017.
To ensure that the policy is
implemented in letter and spirit,
a Standing Committee chaired
by Secretary, Ministry of Steel
has been constituted to oversee
its implementation. A Grievance
Committee has also been con-
stituted to carry out grievance
redressal which may arise while
implementing the DMI&SP Pol-
icy.
The Ministry of Steel organ-
ised a conclave in Bhubaneswar
in October this year for domestic
manufacturers of capital goods
meant for the steel sector. MoUs
worth ` 39,400 crore were
signed between foreign capital
goods manufacturers & technol-
ogy providers with Indian capital
goods manufacturers and steel
producers.
This will result in the manu-
facturing of capital goods for the
steel sector within the country
in the next four years. This is a
major shot-in-the-arm for the
‘Make in India’ initiative of the
Central government.

made millions of people
happy, not only in India but
also in other parts of the world.
Movies can be transformative.
“Nowhere else in the world have
we seen feature films on sani-
tary pads or toilets made,” said
K J Alphons, Union Minister of
State for Tourism.

dictory ceremony of 49th Inter-
national Film Festival of India
(IFFI) in Panaji, Goa. Drawing a
parallel between tourism and
movies, Mr Alphons said, tourism
and movie industry are closely
related, since they have the sin-
gle objective of bringing people
close together and making them
happy. In a country where many
people have sacrificed their lives
for their nation, there is plenty
of subject matter for amazing
realistic movies, he added.

Jharkhand the state focus. Noting
that the preparations for the
golden jubilee celebration of the
festival next year has begun,
the Secretary said the govern-
ment would like to showcase
the film culture of each and every
region of the country and trace
the history of IFFI from the 1st to
the 49th year.
He added that the facilities
at Goa would be enhanced, giv-
en the overwhelming response
received from film lovers. This
is being done, so that the 50th
IFFI can have many more dele-
gates than this year, he added.
Mr Sardesai said, regional
cinema has to find a place in
national cinema. Filmmakers
should be encouraged to come
forward to know Goan way of
life, he said.
The festival of quality cinema
concluded with the world premier
of German film Sealed Lips. Var-
ious prestigious awards including
Golden Peacock, Silver Peacock
and Lifetime Achievement Award
were conferred during the star-
studded ceremony.
On the occasion, the IFFI
Special Award has been con-
ferred to Salim Khan for his Life-
time contribution to cinema. Ar-
baaz Khan, son of Salim Khan,
received the award on behalf of
his father. Salim Khan revolu-
tionised Indian cinema in the
70s, transforming and reinventing
the Bollywood formula, pioneer-
ing the Bollywood blockbuster
format, and pioneering genres
such as the masala film and the
Dacoit Western. Salim Khan was
also responsible for creating the
"angry young man" character
archetype and launching Amitabh
Bachchan's career.

More than 220 movies from
67 countries were screened at
IFFI. While the festival opened
with the world premiere of Eng-
lish film The Aspern Papers, the
world premiere of German film
Sealed Lips marked the conclu-
sion of the festival bonanza.
Twenty-six feature films and 21
non-feature films were screened
in the Indian Panorama section.
While Israel was the focus
country, Jharkhand was the focus
state this year. This is for the
first time that any state was
made focus state at IFFI. Veteran
Israeli filmmaker Dan Wolman
was given the Lifetime Achieve-
ment Award at the opening cer-
emony. Another new section at
IFFI this year was the screening
of six Indian sports biopics as
an extension of the Khelo India
initiative. The next edition will
mark the 50th anniversary of In-
dia’s premier film festival.
