Buc Family,

I want to apprise you of a very difficult decision I have recently made to step down as Head Football
Coach of Red Bank Regional High School. It was always important to me that when I stopped coaching to
leave the program with a better direction than when I received it 10 years ago. I want to make sure to
preserve and remember the “Past”, while caring about the “Present” and “Future” of all the players, and
students within the RBR Community. I believe there are many reasons I am leaving the BUC Football
Program in a much better position than when I was hired. I will provide a few brief reasons why. RBR had
only 4 wins in a total of 4 years just prior to my hire. In comparison to my last 4 years, we have collected 24
wins, 2 State Play-Off berths, 2 Top 10 finishes, 7 victories over top 10 teams, a Divisional Championship
(last one was 1977), multiple individual honors, and have signed several players to play Division I through III
college football with a handful earning full athletic scholarships. More importantly then the above
accomplishments, I feel the program is better off now due to having a structured, time tested 12 month
program already in place, set with built in year round coaches and player’s expectation levels to achieve.
And finally, I am leaving behind a returning veteran team with 14 starters, several full-time special team
players, and an up-coming sophomore class filled with great talent and promise.

I will miss being a part of the daily growth and development of the player’s life. Going out everyday
teaching fundamentals, teaching what it means to be a great teammate, always working to get better, and
most importantly teaching valuable life skills along the way! I am also proud of intertwining our several
tremendous sending districts, as they learned to be unselfish and to put the good of the team ahead of
themselves. Football has always been called the “ultimate team sport”, and every day during my tenure as
a coach I have based what I do around bringing individual players together working towards accomplishing
one common team goal! This is more important than anything else each year, and the 2018 Team
accomplished this each and every day. This close “team bond” is also what I leave for the next coach to
build upon, and take to another level.

I have been lucky enough to have played 4 years of high school and 4 years of college football, and
fortunate to have coached 26 years at the high school and collegiate level. I don’t believe there is an exact
right time to step down as a coach/leader, but the program and the kids have a great positive direction, as I
now will put more time and energy into my own kids at home. The 2019 season has already been set in
motion; the strength program, recruiting, schedules, etc. are in full effect. I will always be there for
whoever needs me at RBR. I will continue to teach, provide guidance, and be a role model to all students at
Red Bank Regional. I want to sincerely thank Mr. Dal Pra, Mrs. Clay, Dr. Moore, the entire Board of
Education, as well as everyone who has supported me in my role as head football coach the past 10 years.
Most importantly I want to thank all the PLAYERS for their hard work and dedication they have given to
myself, and have provided RBR with over the years. Someday I hope to be fortunate again to be back
involved in RBR Football, but for now I wish you all nothing but the very best! Every day work at achieving
greatness, you do that enough, and greatness becomes more than a goal, it becomes a daily
accomplishment in your life!
“Once A Buc…Always A Buc”

Thank you,

Nick Giglio
