Toxic waste

Countries all over the world, especially in Asia, suffer from various health problems

due to their environment. In developing countries, toxic waste had been very evident. Its

risk to human health affect the lives of people, resulting to increase in morbidity rates that

affect the life of the citizens of a county. Toxic waste sites also continue to hamper human

existence with the fast-growing mortality rates. The problem had not been fully addressed

and considered by governments of various counties as the efforts in addressing the issue

are minimal and not enough to eradicate the problem. It had not been a priority in

conducting studies related to public health problems. As of 2011, 8.3 % percent of global

deaths are caused by the toxicity of different wastes, around 8 million persons in some

countries of Asia (Stephens et.al, 2010).

The prevalence of toxic waste justifies the development of environmental problem

rising in different areas of the world. Mazza et.al (2015) stated that it represents a major

fraction concerning environmental pollution. Dumping of toxic wastes and the act of

burning to eliminate the area covered by them produces various harmful chemicals, such

as dioxin, a chlorate compound with 17 highly toxic molecules. These are known to be a

cause of different types of cancer for both animals and plants. Lung and liver cancer had

been evident in areas exposed to toxic waste sites. Animal breeding are also effected,

especially in study conducted about sheep. The comparison in terms of chromosomal

fragility, mortality, and abnormal development during growth of sheep bred in

contaminated areas and those who are raised in non-contaminated areas are evident,

which shows how naturally bred sheep in great areas are healthier.
Not only it do toxic substances and waste contribute to the environmental

problems, but also affect food production. A study conducted by Renzo et.al (2015)

revealed that exposure to toxic waste and considerable chemicals also hampers healthy

productions of goods. Some chemicals are incorporated to manufacture products

necessary for human sustenance, which when not given care could be of a great harm.

Transportation of food and other sources also expose them to the environment, which

leads to a possibility of affecting a number of people which bought these resources. In

the natural process of food and energy production, the wastes also affect their quality,

therefore harming consumers and affecting health of people. The food system in various

countries are affected with the incorporation of some toxic chemicals which produce

harmful products such as plastic. These plastics eventually becomes turn into a waste

and affect an area in which it is disposed improperly.
