1.0 INTRODUCTION:

1.1 GENERAL INFORMATION OF PROJECT

PROJECT TITLE : INSTITUTE BUILDING OF APPLIED
SCIENCE AT KIET, GAZIABAD, U.P.
LOCATION OF PROJECT : GAZIABAD, U.P.
DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT : Proposed INSTITUTE BUILDING OF APPLIED
SCIENCE AT KIET is a G+5 (total six storey)
building. Floor to floor height of the building are 3.5
meter.

1.2 PURPOSE OF BASIS DESIGN DOCUMENT:

This brief will be used as guideline for the structural design calculations. It contains the
basic structural engineering principles, methods & performance criteria details. It also
reflects the input data, loadings and load combinations required for the structural
analysis by computer software.

2.0 STRUCTURAL SYSTEM

An overview of the selected structural system and the structural concept for the
proposed structure is provided in this section.
The project is located in a seismic zone classified as IV as per IS 1893 (Part I): 2016
and as such, the design must consider minimizing the structural damages resulting from
an earthquake.

2.1. SUPERSTRUCTURE GRAVITY SYSTEM

Gravity loads will be calculated and imposed on the structural RCC frames as per the
provisions of relevant IS codes.
Frames will be analyzed for the final bending moments induced w r t various load
combinations.

2.2. SUPERSTRUCTURE – LATERAL LOAD RESISTING SYSTEM

All the Lateral forces due to Earthquake or any other source will be resisted by RCC
columns and walls provided in the proposed structure.
