10. As you may know, the government shut down because President Trump requested 5.7 billion dollars
to increase border security, including expanding barriers along our southern border, and
Democrats in Congress have refused to agree to that amount. Knowing this, do you approve or
disapprove of shutting the government down in order to provide funding to increase border
security, including expanding barriers along our southern border?

11. Now, as you may know, some people are calling for President Trump and Democrats in Congress to
make a deal and open the government that would provide 5.7 billion dollars to President Trump to
increase border security, including expanding barriers along our southern border, but also provide
permanent legal status to the 1.8 million Dreamers in the country, a top priority for Democrats.
Based on what you know, do you support or oppose this deal?
12. And, would you say this is a good deal that gives both sides in the shutdown debate what they want
and allows for the government to reopen, or a bad deal that gives the other side too much and should
be rejected?
CONFIDENTIAL 5
13. Do you agree or disagree that President Trump should take the lead and work with Democrats in
Congress on this deal to end the shutdown that increases funding for border security and provides
permanent legal status for Dreamers?
14. Now, some people have suggested this deal to increase border security and allow Dreamers to stay in
America should be temporary instead of permanent and limited to just three years. Do you believe
Congress should make this a temporary deal that would require them to revisit both border security
funding and the status of the Dreamers in three years, or should Congress fix it now and make it
permanent to avoid additional arguments and shutdowns in the future?
