2. SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work under this package shall include design, engineering, manufacture, shop painting,
cleaning, coating, testing at manufacturer’s works, liaisoning and related approvals of statutory bodies as
applicable, proper packaging, loading, delivery at site with unloading, storage and handling at site, and
erection, commissioning, performance guarantee testing at site and handing over to the Purchaser the
following:
a) Three (3) Nos. of River Water Intake Pumps (Stage I) with Motors, sealing system and lubrication
system, including pumps for thrust bearing cooling and seal water, drains and vents,
instrumentation & control and providing the services as delineated in this document and in
accordance with applicable codes and standards.
b) Three (3) Nos. of River Water Booster Pumps (Stage II) with Motors, sealing system and
lubrication system, including pumps for thrust bearing cooling and seal water, drains and vents,
instrumentation & control and providing the services as delineated in this document and in
accordance with applicable codes and standards.
It is not the intent to completely specify all details of design & construction here in. Nevertheless, the
equipment and materials shall conform to high standards of engineering design, workmanship and
construction in all respects for the safe, efficient, reliable, satisfactory, economical, continuous and trouble
free operation (without excessive wear or maintenance under the service conditions) of the offered
equipments in a manner acceptable to the Purchaser and also for the satisfactory maintenance & repair
works of the same. Items though not specifically mentioned but are required to make the equipments
complete in all respect, shall be treated included and shall be supplied unless otherwise excluded.
Any clarification by Owner and any amendment, if any forwarded by Owner, shall be considered as part of
this specification.
3.1.1 MECHANICAL
1. Vertical Turbine Pumps i) Three (3) nos. (2W + 1S) vertical, constant speed, wet pit,
mixed flow design, with single stage impeller River Water
Intake Pumps (Stage I) complete with electric motor
drives together with all accessories as specified and as
required for safe and trouble-free operation.
ii) Three (3) nos. (2W + 1S) vertical, constant speed, wet pit,
mixed flow design, with single stage impeller River Water
Booster Pumps (Stage II) complete with electric motor
drives together with all accessories as specified and as
required for safe and trouble-free operation.
2. Equipment accessories Each pump set shall be supplied with the following accessories, as
for Vertical Turbine applicable.
Pumps
i) Heavy duty couplings of approved design to connect the
pump shaft with the motor shaft.
v) Drains and vents system for pump, Drains shall be lead to the
nearest floor drain/sump.
3. Sump model studies Sump model studies for pump intake sumps (Stage I and Stage II) are
in the scope of pump vendor. The test shall be conducted to study
various flow conditions as explained in the Owner’s specification.
3.1.2 ELECTRICAL
The scope includes but is not limited to the design, supply, and installation of the following:

3.1.3 CONTROL & INSTRUMENTATION
Vendor shall provide all Control & Instrumentation items /devices required for safe and efficient operation
of all water intake and booster pumps. Vendor to note that the instrumentation and control items defined in
Owner’s Technical specification for each pump are minimum requirements. Any other C&I equipment /
material / instrument required for safe and trouble free operation of the system, which the Vendor may find
suitable, shall have to be included by the Vendor in his scope and shall be indicated in the bid.
Vendor shall provide foundation drawings with foundation bolt pocket details, loads and moments of
pumps.
Purchaser will provide take care of civil design and construction of pump house. Grouting will be in pump
vendor’s scope.
3.2 SPARES
The Vendor shall include in his scope:
3.2.1 ERECTION (INITIAL) & COMMISSION SPARES
Erection (Initial) and commissioning spares are those spares which may be required during the erection and
commissioning of the equipment/ system. All spares used until the plant is handed over to the Owner shall
come under this category. Said spares, properly marked, shall be supplied together with the main equipment
and shall be used by the Vendor, if needed, during erection and commissioning stages. All such spares which
remain unused after the issue of the Taking-Over Certificate by Owner along with an equipment-wise
quantitative consumption report shall be returned to the Owner during time of handover by the Vendor. The
list of commissioning spares to be brought by the Vendor to ensure smooth commissioning of the plant shall
be subjected to the Purchaser’s approval.
The Vendor shall submit a complete list of all such start-up spares. Costs of the above spares which are
consumed before the handing-over of the plant shall be deemed to have been included in the lump sum
proposal price of the Package, and the Vendor shall have no claim on this account to the Purchaser.
3.2.2 ESSENTIAL OR MANDATORY SPARES (AS SPECIFIED BY THE PURCHASER)
Vendor to include in his scope the Essential or Mandatory Spares (Mechanical items) as specified elsewhere
in this specification.
Vendor shall include in his scope the Essential or Mandatory Spares (Electrical items) as specified elsewhere
in this specification.
Vendor shall include in his scope the Essential or Mandatory Spares (C&I items) as specified elsewhere in this
specification.
