Awareness  Routine Activities
 Motivation:
- Show a full picture of meiosis and ask the students to observe it and point out some
important points. And call a representative to explain.

Activity Group Activity:

- The students will be divided into eight.
- Check the materials needed for the activity.
General instructions:
- Make a 3D model of the different stages
of meiosis using a clay.

chromosome number of the parent cells.
2. What are the different phases of meiosis?
- Unlike mitosis that undergoes I-PMAT, Meiosis has two parts. It goes prophase I,
Metaphase I, Anaphase I and Telophase I. After cytokinesis, it will undergo to
another cycle which is called Prophase II, Metaphase II, Anaphase II, Telophase II
and Cytokinesis to reproduce four haploid daughter cell.
3. What is the biological importance of meiosis?
- Meiosis helps to create a population that is not only physically and genetically
different but also one, which is perfectly fit to survive.
Meiosis is a process of gamete formation in which diploid germ-line cells, i.e., the cells
that are set aside early in animal development for sexual reproduction, yield four genetically
different haploid cells. It occurs only in sex cells, which are eggs and sperms. Meiosis takes
place in two stages - Meiosis I, where DNA replication takes place and crossing-over occurs;
and Meiosis II, which lacks DNA replication, but is similar to Mitotic cell division. Production
of haploid gametes to maintain the diploid number of species, generation after generation.
Crossing-over, which brings together new gene combination of chromosomes. A mechanism
for comparing the two copies of each chromosome is provided with the purpose of error
correction or repairing. Meiosis helps to create a population that is not only physically and
genetically different but also one, which is perfectly fit to survive.

Application How do you relate meiosis in the production of egg cell in women and sperm cell in men?
