En su amplia bibliografía relacionada con el judaísmo de la época del Segundo
Templo, de la literatura apócrifa y de los orígenes del Cristianismo, el profesor Anto-
nio Piñero se ha acercado en múltiples ocasiones a los manuscritos del Mar Muerto
con el acierto, el rigor y la precisión que caracterizan sus escritos. A través de estas
líneas quiero destacar algunos de sus trabajos relacionados con Qumrán y con el pre-

De los cinco fragmentos que forman el manuscrito sólo dos son legi-
bles en un 48%. Se trata de un manuscrito muy deteriorado y fragmen-
tado. Lo que ha llegado hasta nosotros del libro de Brontología son sólo
cuatro líneas de la segunda parte del segundo fragmento del manuscrito
arameo con caracteres semicursivos15. El resto está formado por un ca-
lendario zodiacal en el que se dan cita la astrología y la numerología.
Nadie, en la actualidad, pone en duda que estamos ante un manuscrito
que contiene un calendario. Si bien, se trata de un calendario único, si
lo comparamos con el resto de calendarios que aparecen en la literatura
de Qumrán16.
M. Albani sostiene que el calendario de 4Q318 es un calendario di-
ferente del resto de los de Qumrán, ya que el manuscrito fija los días del
zodiaco en el tiempo. Una nueva forma de fijar los tiempos a través de
la unión de un calendario zodiacal y la interpretación de los truenos a
través de los signos del zodíaco17. El calendario zodiacal lo encontramos
en los tres fragmentos 4Q318 IV,5-9; VII,1-9; VIII,1-6. En ellos se distri-
buyen los signos del zodíaco entre los días de los meses de un año de 364
días en una secuencia de 2 + 2 + 3 = 7 días18. García Martínez explica
que: “como los doce signos cubren así un total de 28 días, el signo con el
que se ha comenzado el mes vuelve de nuevo al final y se le atribuyen 2
días en los meses de 30 días y 3 días en los meses de 31 días, de manera
que cada mes comienza con un nuevo signo zodiacal”19. Como vemos en

columnas de pergamino que formarían el libro de Brontología21.

Díez Merino, al hablar de los apócrifos arameos en los manuscritos del Mar
Muerto, afirma: “Semejantes “Brontologios” griegos son conocidos desde la antigüe-
dad. Por primera vez aparecen los nombres arameos de los doce signos, que aparecie-
