WHY RAINDANCE?
I am submitting my production into Raindance film festival due to it being one of
the best film festivals in the UK. I have decided to aim high with my work and I
have set the challenge of Raindance due to it being a very prestigious competition
in which only the best submit their work into. Raindance looks for bold British and
International filmmakers to submit their production as they want to see a range of
style that are interesting and engaging. I really appreciate how they are looking for
‘bold’ content as I want to make my documentary as bold and gripping as possible,
therefore this competition will work perfectly with that.

DEADLINES
To get my documentary in on time I will have to follow the rules of the competition.
Raindance festival have three separate deadlines. Early deadline which is on the 26th
April 2019 in which you will have to pay £25 for submission. Next, its regular deadline
which is the 26th April 2019 and the cost is £35 and finally the late deadline at 31 st May
2019 which costs £50 for entry.

VEGANISM OR EXTREMISM
My idea for my documentary is to make a production surrounding veganism and how vegan activists’ threats and protests effect
society. I would title the documentary ‘Veganism or Extremism’. The style of the documentary would be an investigation as I
would go undercover to vegan protests and see how they go about protesting different causes. I want to get a rounded
perspective of different opinions surrounding this matter for example the farmers. I want to know the farmers opinions on
vegan boycotting them transferring cattle and stealing their livestock from their farms. I also want t ask different vegans if they
think this social behaviour and harassment is helping their cause and if they are achieving anything from it. This documentary will
be edgy and gripping as I will get footage from riots and I will attend vegan protests undercover. I want to make this production as
raw and intense as possible so I can really make a point on the effects of this extreme behaviour.
INTERVIEWS TARGET AUDIENCE

WHY THIS DOCUMENTARY SHOULD BE MADE
I believe this documentary should be made due to me never seeing a documentary of this type, it’s a whole new angle about veganism. As
society we are beginning to accept the veganism lifestyle and see all the positives to it, however I want to show to my target audience
that the grass isn’t greener and there is negative application caused by vegan activists. I want to challenge the audience’s views on
‘peaceful’ protests and show how much harm a group can do to someone’s livelihood and personal life. As well as this I believe I want to
explore my specialism of editing in further depth and be able to edit to emotion and power, I think I could do this successfully through this
production and make someone that is niche and different for my target audience to enjoy and learn from.
