Statement on Tragic Passing of


Lansing School District Student Michael Martin

Lansing – Following the tragic loss of Michael Martin, Mr. Kellie P. Dean, CEO of Dean
Transportation, made the following statement:

“Our prayers are with Michael and his family during this time of grief. Our Dean Transportation
family wishes to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Michael.”

“Dean Transportation is committed to assisting the Lansing School District and Michael’s family
in investigating any circumstances relating to any and all claims of student bullying in school or
on the school bus. Dean has been in communication with Lansing School District administrators
regarding Michael’s tragic passing and has made counselling available to Dean staff.”

Dean Transportation is committed to educating students and staff on the impacts of bulling in our
schools and on school buses. Dean has partnered with the Attorney General’s Office to market
the OK-2-SAY program, trains drivers on student behavior through the Crisis Prevention
Institute, provides trauma informed training, and recently conducted training for school bus
drivers and monitors with Anthony Ianni, a national speaker on bullying, through the Michigan
Department of Civil Rights.
