ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
This work immersion portfolio would not have been possible without the support of
the following people in the work immersion student’s life:

First and foremost, I would like to thank the heavenly above, our Almighty God, for
giving me and sending me the wisdom, strength, patience and guidance in order to
successfully complete this immersion.

I’m also grateful to our principal and assistant principal, Ma’am Gemalyn Ramirez,
Ph.D. and Ma’am Nerissa Guiyab for giving us the opportunity to introduce ourselves in a
workplace as a work immersion student.

I also especially like to thank my work immersion adviser, Mrs. Glenda P. Sucgang
who has been giving me unwavering support and assistance till the end of this journey.

I’m also grateful to those with whom I have the pleasure to work with during the work
immersion period. Each of them has provided me extensive personal, emotional and mental
support that gradually helped me in motivating myself to strive harder.

I’m also thankful to the staff of National Irrigation Administration-SPCIS especially

Mrs. Wilhelmina Ulep for letting me learn a lot of great things from them.

And lastly, nobody has been important to me in the pursuit of this than my family. I
would like to thank my parents, whose love and guidance are with me in whatever I pursue. I
deeply appreciate their unending support, may it be moral or financial which contributed
meaningfully in the successful completion of this immersion.
ESSAY ON HOW TO CONDUCT ONESELF INSIDE THE
COMPANY/BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENT DURING THE IMMERSION PERIOD

“Experience is the teacher of all things”- Julius Caesar. I believe in total immersion, if
you want to learn, you have to program your mind to absorb wisdom. You have to unlearn all
thoughts that pace you down and replace them with rich experiences that will move you
forward up to your heart’s content. Truly, work immersion is very essential to Grade 12
students for it is an opportunity to have a hands-on experience on the desired profession and
learn from the people who are the foundation o their own league of expertise.

For exactly 10 days, I have to immerse myself in the National Irrigation

Administration-SPCIS that’s why it is a must to be wary on how to conduct myself in a
workplace for I’m going to work with successful people. First thing is to ponder all things in
order to get things done smoothly and for me to know more about the workplace. Next is to
show respect to the commendable employees for their specializations are the one who will
help me grow as a work immersion student. I also have to practice punctuality for arriving on
time to work is a manifestation that I have a strong commitment on my job. I also have to
bear in mind to keep a positive aura every time because it highly reflects on my performance
as a worker and affects the outcome of my tasks. Moreover, I have to make sure that I’m very
active, attentive and obedient whenever they tasked me to do something related to work.
Being Initiative should never be set aside for there are certain things that I can accomplish
without them asking me to do it. In addition to that, it is my responsibility not to discuss
internal going-on with co-workers and not share trade secrets outside the workplace. And
lastly, I have to follow all the rules and regulations and I must bear in my mind that I have the
right to refuse if it is an unsafe work because best workers work safely.

It is like a dream come true to finally immerse myself in an environment that I want to
work on in the near future and surround myself with professionals whom I want to associate
myself with because I know that I will learn a lot from them. I believe that the work
immersion plays a big role in shaping me as a person and to become more enthusiastic on my
chosen career path. And I strongly agree that the collective ideas and learning acquired
through this experience will be my weapon in the future.

REFLECTION PAPER ON STUDENT’S WORK IMMERSION EXPERIENCE

Through experience and observation, another valuable lesson that I learned while working
at <company> was that in projects, especially when working in primary stages of certain
project, things can change very quickly and dramatically. Another lesson I learned through
this was that if there are any uncertainties, from whether a survey was off by a few
millimetres, to if materials chosen for a certain aspect of a project were unsuitable, it always
has to be checked numerous times and from senior level sources before any conclusions can
be made, especially if they are to be presented to a client.

I found that the workplace itself was relatively diverse from what I had observed working at
<company>. There are surveyors, project supervisors/managers to civil engineers all
working in the one office. This large range of people have different strengths and
qualifications and they work together and organise their work in sync with one another so
that work flows and they are able to complete their work efficiently in order to present it to
the client on time. This in turn, manages to help the workplace become better as team and
therefore creates a good atmosphere in the working environment.

Overall, my work experience at <company> was positive. I was very happy with the amount
of things that I have learned and experienced in the 12 weeks of being a Student Engineer
with the company. I believe that Victoria University should keep this aspect of the
Engineering course as it does provide students with the experience needed in order to find a
job later on (even if the experience is over a short amount of time). Also, it can be very
beneficial as it could lead to a more permanent position, which is what happened with me. I
ended up learning a lot more than I thought I would be able to in the time span, and my
hard work paid off as they offered me a job at the end of it. I am so happy, and proud that I
have completed my course, and I can now graduate and call myself a Graduate Enginee
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN

• 5 years rom now, I will become a full pledged

D Civil Engineer.

• I will study again and take up education units and

R master's degree in Philippine Normal University.

• I will pass the LET Board Exam with high

E remarks.

• I plan to be a professor in the University of the

A Philippines.

• I will be a founder o my own Engineering firm.
