Phrase is any grouping of words that does not contain a subject and a verb. A phrase
is a very basic word unit in English.
Example of Phrases:
• Reading a book
• The tall basketball player

Noun Phrase-a noun and any words in the sentence that modify it; words that can
modify nouns include articles (a, an, the); adjectives; participles; and possessive
pronouns

Noun phrases can function in several different ways in a sentence.

1. A noun phrase can be a subject:


Examples: The yellow house is for sale.
The glistening snow covered the field.

2. A noun phrase can be a direct object:


Examples: I want a skate board.

Instructions: (5 minutes preparation time, 1 minute for each group’s presentation)


1. The teacher will divide the class into five groups.
2. Each group should have ¼ manila paper or 2 bond papers and permanent
marker with them.
3. They need to copy the sentences given to them by the teacher to their material.
4. After transferring the sentences on their material. They need to present their
answers in the class.
