Company Profile
For over 90 years, the men and women who make up the McWane family of companies have
demonstrated pride and a commitment to excellence in the products they make. Founded in
1921, McWane, Inc. is a family owned business based in Birmingham, Alabama, with 14 iron
foundries and related businesses across the United States, Canada, Australia, China, India and
Abu Dhabi. McWane’s divisions focus on the safe, environmentally friendly manufacturing of
ductile iron pipe, soil pipe, soil fittings and utility fittings, waterworks valves and fire hydrants,
propane and compressed air tanks and fire extinguishers.
McWane International was created in 1992 to accommodate the growing global demand for
McWane products. This activity eventually grew into full coordination of the international sales
efforts of McWane Inc.’s manufacturing across the U.S.A., Canada, Australia, China and, most
recently, our new plant in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The growth of the company's international sales during the last two decades required more
attention be focused outside the US, and McWane International was strengthened for this
purpose.
In addition to our U.S. made ASTM standard cast Iron soil pipe and fittings, McWane Gulf will be
offering EN standard Tyler branded quality certified soil pipe and fittings in sizes ranging from
50mm up to 400mm diameters.
Today McWane International works as a team to supply waterworks, fire protection and plumbing
products world wide, as well as our new ductile iron poles. The team is active in South and North
America, the Caribbean, the Middle East and Asia including China and the Pacific Islands.
McWane is proud of our heritage and will continue our tradition of creating world-class quality
products through our recognized family of manufacturers. McWane’s global footprint has made
an impact around the world. Our growing global operations are expanding this footprint to bring
water to the world.

We offer various types of couplings which is providing the perfect answer for joining hubless cast iron pipe and fittings in
drainage, waste and vent systems. Our coupling is flexible, not only enabling it to accommodate possible disparities in
joining pipe but also providing a permanent reliable sealing.
Our range of coupling includes Type E, Type W and Type C. Our product range also includes combination grip collars for
axial restraint performance.
Available with Stainless steel single collar this coupling is particularly useful for installation outside buildings or in soil.
Sealing material is EPDM. Sizes up to DN100 are available with single screw connection and sizes DN125- DN200 are
available with two screw designs.

ANNEXURE 1
Cast iron soil pipes offer advantages such as strength, corrosion resistance and noise reduction that cannot be
found in any other commercial piping. Cast Iron Soil Pipes and Fittings are the safest for your application and are
comparatively better than any non-metallic drainage pipe system. Cast Iron is also a fully recyclable and an envi-
ronmental friendly material.
Our drainage pipe is made of Grey Cast Iron GG to EN 1561 produced by centrifugal technology with a corrosion
resistant coating to meet EN 877/DIN 19522/ISO 6594 standards. The pipe is produced with strict quality control
procedures in ISO 9001 certified factories.
The Standard soil pipe and fittings are made to EN 877 coating System with Epoxy resin, sprayed, dipped and or
with Fusion bonded epoxy coating systems.
Fire Resistance
Iron pipe possesses superior fire safety qualities since it cannot burn, does not produce toxic smoke or gases in
fires as some other plastic products do, and it can be passed safely metal through firewalls. Lower fire insurance
premiums are an additional advantage for piping systems.
It is not necessary to consider thermal loads in Cast Iron soil pipe systems compared to PE/PVC lines. Iron pipe
has very low thermal expansion coefficients. However, with penetrations of cast-iron pipe through walls and
ceilings subject to fire protection regulations, the heat transmission via cast-iron pipes must be taken into consid-
eration
Quiet Operation
Cast Iron is a dense material which absorbs sound vibrations. Cast Iron is very quiet, muffling the noise from
rushing wastewater more effectively than other options. In addition, our Seal and No-Hub jointing system blocks
sound which travels along the pipe. This is important in hospitals, laboratories, hotels, offices and residential
buildings.
Strength
Cast Iron pipe is strong enough to lie beneath foundations and is resistant to expansion and contraction caused
by extreme temperatures. With high ring crushing loads, Iron Pipe can be buried or encased in concrete for
decades of trouble-free service. Wall thickness is accurately controlled for the most efficient use of iron.
Serviceability
• Cleaning of Cast Iron Plumbing systems can be undertaken without damage to the pipes with push rods or
sharp cutting tools.
• Alterations or extensions can be made easily with a minimum interruption in system usage.
• Easier Storage and handling-sunlight, temperature extremes, or aging have negligible effect on Cast Iron.

Installation & Testing SS Couplings to hubless cast iron Soil Pipe & Fittings
Description
SS Couplings consist of a Stainless steel metal collar clamp assembly and a molded one-piece EPDM sealing
sleeve. The coupling is used to join hubless cast iron soil pipe and fittings made according to EN877 for using
in gravity drainage applications in buildings.
Sealing sleeves are made of EPDM as the sole elastomer. Chemical characteristics of EPDM assure that the gasket
will not decay or deteriorate from contact with effluents in the pipe or in the soil around the pipe.
Type E couplings and large size coupling can be also installed by removing the rubber seal first and slide the seal
to the first pipe to the central inner ring. Step 2 is to push the second pipe end to the rubber seal and set it to the
central ring. Step 3 is to lay the metal collar around the sealing and to insert the bolt and to tight it to the required
torque.
Testing Instructions
According to EN877 Section 4.5, water tightness couplings may not exhibit any visible leakage under test condi-
tions when hydrostatic pressure is applied. The installation standards to meet EN12056-Sec 5.4.2 for Water and
Gas Tightness and Section 6.3 for fixing and supporting. Please refer to the standards.
Special care to be taken for drainage pipelines which may subject to a pressure higher than 0.50 bar. Grip collars
are recommended for such applications.
TEST:
For best results, test one floor at a time. The system should be properly restrained; all bends, changes of direction
and ends of runs should be restrained.
