1954 Astro Letters

28-03-2013, 09:44 PM
Everybody that spends some time with WD´s writings comes across what has been termed
"Astro Letters". These were instructions WD had sent to one of his students that openly speak
about the use of astrology. However,as openly as is spoken about it it would not be WD if it
was a one glance all understood operation. I want to start with the Coffee part from March
19.
You can find some of what I write written elsewhere (Ferrera e.g) but this is not a copy-cat
operation. In part 1 I will look at page 1 of the Coffee letter

The letter starts with giving price and resp. date for May Coffee Santos D.A

price of 8729 was reached on May 19th,1954.

The letter starts with 4 lines of applying various scales to turn price into

degrees:

Lets first talk about the scales a bit.

The first scale is 1pt to 1 deg, which is derived from our good old Earth rotating the Sun in
one year. One degree per day that is.

The 2nd scale is 30pt to 1 deg.The basis for this scale is Saturn rotating the Sun in 30 years.
The third scale is 12pt. to 1 deg. and since this is not one of the usual scales he tells right
away that it is based on Jupiter, which rotates the Sun in 12 years.
The fourth scale is different from the other 3 in that it is not connected to planetary rotation. It
is 1cent to 1 deg.

So far we have three natural scales and 1 man made so to say.The three natural scales show
how using different scales positions price differently on a circle.
The man made one teaches rotating the decimals. If you read cent as percent
then 8729/100=87.29 and this gives 87deg17min and that is 27 17 Gemini.
The same scale is again used on the $ value of 28171 which gives 281.71 deg and
leads to 11 42 Capricorn.
As we go along you will notice discrepancies in numbers stated in the letter and in what a
recalculation produces. The recipient of the letter was supposed to work through this stuff and
not just read it.I cant see any step by step course by WD.This was not his understanding of
work ethics.

Ok,lets continue....the next line brings up the average of 5 options as 8663 leading to 28
Aries. Well, 8663 is at 23 Aries whereas 8668 is at 28 Aries. Then he relates the 28 Aries to
the position of Jupiter(H) at 89.5 deg and goes on to say this price is 60 deg from the Jupiter
positon.Doing the math shows that is actually 61.5 deg away so this shows one need not be
exact to the T in this.

Another thing thats interesting here is if we exchange the word average with the word mean
we see he shows in these lines the concept of Mean Of Five which he introduced in the
Soybean part of the Astro Letters.Only this time applied to a group of prices.
So far the first paragraph introduced ways to turn price into degrees, this was an isolated view
on price only. Now in the second paragraph price degree positions get related to planetary
positions.

First relation is that the MOF sextiles Jupiter(H) position.Second relation is the current price
of 8729 is conjunct Jupiter(H).
Now he takes the Saturn scaled price and relates it to Uranus (H) position. This price is in
opposition to the position. This is what active angles is about.

If you take a bit of an abstract perspective there is a theme of the Law of three in the text so
far.We have three relationships and three natural scales.Further the scales are arranged in a
way that expresses the Law of three directly in that there is a minor, major and intermediate
scale.

The first two paragraphs represent an analysis of the situation on March 19th.Now he
introduces the time element in the analysis.

April 16th 1931 to April 16th 1954 276 months

50pt per month gets us to about (50x275)=13750 on March 19th.In order to get to the stated
8715 (8715/275)=31.69/mth is the underlying scale. This would be a scale running from
´0´.Now since he also states a low for April 16th 1931 we can use that for another
calculation.
(8715-435)=8280...(8280/275)=30.1pts/mth.This would be a scale starting at the low.WD
introduces both ways in his stock market course.
If you have read Ferrera´s take on the letter you might notice his calculated scale comes out
at exact 30,because he projects 8715 to April 16th 1954 and uses 276 months.

Now lets check the Sun calculation.

From April 16th 1931 to March 19th he states the Sun has moved 8253deg.
(8253/275)=30.01 pts/mth. Now the .01 can be explained by the 3 day difference to a full
month and should be the cause for this discrepancy. He then goes on to add the price of 16th
1931 which is 435 to 8253 and creates a resistance angle with that. (8253+435)=8688 and
this leads to a resistance angle of 48deg
The adding and the fact that the scale comes out almost exact hints that this is a
`0`application.

October 1st 1936 to April 1st 1954 210 months

As before the stated scales dont get us to his prices on March 19th.
(30x209)=6270 and (40x209)=8360
However in this part of the letter he does not say prices on March 19th!
So lets use 210 months.
(30x210)=6300 and (40x210)=8400
If we start the angles at the low of 300 this leads to 6600 and 8700.Now we have one
reproduced calculation and one thats a 1000 off of his stated prices.Since the recalculation
produces the exact 8700 it is my opinion that the other price is also correct.
So the last two paragraphs were examples for the use of geometric angles.

He started the letter with price being turned into degrees, now we get to the reverse of that-
turning a planets position to price.
April 16th 1931 to March 19th 1954 Saturn(G) movement
Saturn moved 285,63deg.This shall lead to a price of 8572.
(8572/285,63)=30.01

October 1st 1936 to March 19th 1954

Saturn moved 231deg.Price would equal 7230.
(7230/231)=31.29deg/pts this is too far off,so since we already were shown the possibility to
use the low as a base or leave it with geometrical angles ,lets try leaving it out.
(7230-300)=6930.....(6930/231)=30.Isnt this a perfect example.

May 15th 1940(low 545 Profits page 385) to March 19th 1954
Saturn moved 181,58deg leading to a price of 6990.
(6990/181.58)=38.49pts/deg. Now this price actually puzzles me and I dont know if I am not
missing a concept here.
(6990-545)=6445.....(6445/181,58)=35.49.....still not convincing....so lets start with the
degrees and a scale of 30
(181,58x30)=5447.5....+545=5992.5...as said before no clue here....but the next price is in
line again....
a scale of 45 would give 8715 he states.......(181,58x45)=8171...
+545=8716...lets check....(8715-545)=8170...(8170/181,58)=44.99

August 19th 1940 to March 19th I suppose (Low 555 pg.385)

Saturn moved 173,38deg which leads to a price of 8760 on a 45 scale. This price is a puzzle
again.
(8760/173,38)=50.52

Now we come to Saturn(H)

April 16th 1931 to March 19th 1954 Saturn moves 287,25deg price at 8632
(287,25x30)=8617.5.....(8632/287,25)=30.05

October 1st 1936 Saturn moved 225deg and gives a price of 7150
(225x30)=6750....+300=7050.....now thats off.....so lets check....
(7150-300)=6850...(6850/225)=30.44

1940 May15th Saturn moved 179,73deg and price is stated at 5940

(5940-545)=5395....(179,73x30)=5391...checking....(5395/179,73)=30.01
1940 August 19th Saturn gained 176,23deg with price 5842
(5842-555)=5287.....(176,23x30)=5286,9.....checking....

(5287/176,23)=30.0005

So apart from the puzzles what WD showed was how to apply the same principles, the start
from ´0´ and the start from the ow,to both geometrical angles and planetary longitudes.

This ends page 1 analysis.

Analysis page 2
As on page 1 page starts with analysing 19th March situation...
Starting with the headline "Geocentric Planets"- what actually is listed are still the heliocentric
positons.
So the average consists of Neptune+Pluto+Mars+Jupiter+Saturn+Uranus.Using astrolog the average
comes out at(985.898/6)=164.31deg.Leaving out Mars we get
the MOF=(764.875/5)=152.975deg
The geocentric average comes in at (1014.458/6)=169.076deg and
MOF=(754.635/5)=150.927deg.WD states a geocentric average of 173.26deg

WD goes on to calculate mid-points between the various planets. This is the concept of half-way
points or gravity centers applied on planets.
HWP Saturn-Jupiter(H):152.245deg
Average of J+S+N+U(H)=(620.917/4)=155.229deg...HWP(´0´)=77.61deg
HWP U-J(H)=100.774deg
HWP U-J(G)=93.832deg
So WD applies the HWP concept on aspects between planets both helio as well as geocentric and on
averages of planetary longitudes whereby for lack of natural starting point 0 is used for that.

Next we find a section "Important Dates Each Month".From here on the letter gets to some Time
concepts of Gann´s.
These dates are a slight variation of what can be found listed in his Master Stock Market Course as
rule #5 Time Rules for Forecasting.
How Gann came up with these dates cannot be answered for sure, since he never explained it.My
take is the following. The first represents the beginning. The 15th is half of a 30 day period,Earth
moved 15deg and Moon 180deg in that period.18th and 19th are derived from the list of tops and
bottoms, these occur relative frequently around these dates in the list.So Gann shows how to use
historical data to come up with possible culmination dates. He also shows what is Gann Mathmatics
to me-to utilize planetary time periods(fixed cycles) by fracturing in order to create specific points in
time. This is followed by a list of consecutive dates and coffee prices of tops and bottoms.
Then we find the section ´Heliocentric and Geocentric Aspects`
WD watched Jupiter,Saturn,Neptune,Pluto and the Sun here.Apart from the Sun these are the outer
planets. This list has to be read in connection with the last paragraph on page2,which contains two
typos. The date of the rally must be 26th April instead of the stated 16th and the Sun is then 180deg
instead of 130deg to Saturn. If you read both together-list and last paragraph-you get an idea of how
WD used astrology to find possible culmination points.

Then we get to the section of ´Geocentric Mars Movements from low...´

Ok,so whats this about? Its about Gann-Math.In the date section he showed how to use Earth and
Moon for smaller periods of time. Now we are getting to decade periods by using Mars.Mars is also
left out in the MOF formula. All these are inner planets.
So he starts off from a low and counts 360deg and the resp.half-cycle.These cycle dates represent
possible culmination days. These dates would then be combined with culmination dates from other
tools,so that a confluence in dates can be created by using several methods. He is counting 7,9 and
12 cycles here. These digits together with 3 and 5 are Master Numbers. The number 3 is mentioned in
connection with retrograde motion, touching a third time will create another possible culmination
date. Its obvious that this concept can
also be used with the other rules from the forecasting course.
So we have basically a specific time-concept in these pages. There are no counted calendar or trading
days-its only planetary degrees that when reached a certain point are referring to a specific date. The
introduction of a scale on page 1 gives a concept with the geometrical angles that helps keeping
track of planetary movement by transposing it to calendar days in that context.

When studying the Gann forecasting course you will come along the list of rules for Future
Cycles.According to the course the smallest complete segment is the 5year cycle. Two of these make
up the ten year cycle.
(">") is used as short of "....leading to...."
1. BASIC CYCLE
10=5+5
Bull 5
2(up)+1(down)+2(up)=5 Bullcycle
Bear 5
2(down)+1(up)+2(down)=Bearcycle
EXCEPTION: 2year segment can overlap/ 1year segment,creating a pure 5year cycle>(2+1)+2=5 all
one direction
!!not in ending Major Cycles
Top+10=Top of next 10year cycle
Bottom+10=Bottom of next 10year cycle
The above shows that every cycle larger than ten year(20,30...) is already a repetition of the ten year
cycle.
2. 7year Bottom cycle
7=3+4
Start:completed bottom of a cycle(10year)

Bottom(0)+3=Bottom(1)
Bottom(1)+4=Bottom(2)=7 year Bottom Cycle
>Bull5:
at T=3 we have a bottom=bottom(0)
bottom(0)+3>T=6...wrong
bottom(0)+4>T=7>Bottom(0)+4=Bottom(1)...now already in 5-Bear-Cy
bottom(1)+3>T=10>Bottom(2)
>Bear5:
at T=2 we have Bottom(0)
Bottom(0)+3>T=5 end of 5year Bear Cyle with Bottom(1)>BullCyle
Bottom(1)+4>T=4(!!)...wrong
This shows that the original instruction is misleading if all is based on the 10year cycle. What we see
instead is that parallel to the 5+5 cycle we can run a 4+3 bottom cycle.
3. 3+3+4 Top Cycle (4 sections)
Start: Minor/Major Top(0)
Bull5:
at T=2 we have Top(0)
Top(0)+3>T=5,end of BullCycle with Top(1)
Top(1)+3>T=8,we have Top(2)
Top(2)+4>T=2(new cycle!!!),again BullCycle with Top(3)
Bear5:
at t=3 we have TOP(0)
Top(0)+3>T=1(new Cycle!!!)...wrong
Top(0)+4>T=2,we have Top(1)
Top(1)+3>T=5,end of Bullcycle with T(2)
Top(2)+3>T=8,we have Top(3)

The Top-Cycle which also ties in with Gann´s concept of markets moving in 4 sections works out as
3+3+4 started from a BullCyle and is reversed to 4+3+3 when started from a BearCycle.
4. 5year reverse polarity cycle
Top+5=Bottom
Bottom+5=Top
Starting at T=2 BullCyle
Top+5>T=7=bottom
at T=5
Top+5>T=10=bottom(end of bear cycle)

Bottom starting at T=7

Bottom+5>T=2(new cycle!)=Top

at T=10
Bottom+5>T=5=Top(end of BullCycle)

Once you understand this math,it is really simple and nothing else then jumping between various
segments of the 10year cycle.Since the 5+5=10year cycle can be seen as the elementary building
block of larger cycles(20=2*10 etc) these elementary segment shifts can also be treated that
way, that is doubled etc. in the larger cycles.

To aid your study, here are the charts which are discussed in the letters. They are made with
the Swiss Ephemeris. The date used is 1 day later than the date on the letter, as the US market
close in the afternoon is closer to 00:00 UT time of the next day.

After that, looking for 30°, 45°, 60°, 90°, 120°, 135°, 150°, 180° aspects of the Sun and Jupiter,
both in the geocentric and heliocentric charts. For example:

Also, look for Sun and Jupiter ingressions as secondary confirmations. For example, in the
example above, Geo Sun (358°) and Helio Jupiter (89°) are near the cusp of their houses.

Second harmonics of geocentric Mars (180°, 360°) mark major turning points.
