IRR 1.1 The 5th Annual Quiz Bee, having a theme of "Erudite: Clash of
Excellent Minds", is an academic event of the Laguna University
Junior Philippines Institute of Accountants (LU-JPIA), which exists to
complement the academic curriculum of the organization. It aims
to uphold academic excellence through creative and exciting
competitions. Best representatives from each section are gathered
to showcase their wits and abilities to solve different problems that
are based on CPA board subjects. This is in line with the
accomplishment of one of the major goals of the committee for this
year, which is to promote academic excellence.
IRR 2.2 To allow students to test their knowledge against one another in a
friendly, fun and competitive atmosphere;
IRR 2.3 To determine possible representatives for quiz bees outside Laguna
University;
IRR 3.1 The 5th Annual Quiz Bee: "Erudite: Clash of Excellent Minds" shall be
composed of 3 levels of Accounting Quiz Bees and a General
Knowledge Quiz bee. The table below shows the topics covered for
each Level and the requirements for eligibility in order to join each

IRR 4.2 Contestants must be properly registered and must sign in the
provided registration sheet before proceeding to the competition
proper.
IRR 4.3 Contestants must strictly wear corporate attires (no denim pants,
rubber shoes, slippers, casual wear, etc.). Noncompliance of the
conduct as to proper attires shall prohibit the participant/s to join
the competition
IRR 4.4 Late contestants are still allowed to join the competition. However,
he/she shall no longer be allowed to answer the questions he/she
might have missed.
IRR 4.6 The Committee for Academics shall be composed of the JPIA Vice
President for Academics, Departmental Vice Presidents for
Academics, and Academics Committee. While LU-JPIA Council
together with the Audit and Academics Committee shall be
composed of the Executive Officers this shall serve as the monitoring
personnel and question distributors (QD).
IRR 4.7 Aside from the Executive Officers, members of the standing
committee and assigned work force members for the different
events may also serve to act as QDs.
IRR 4.8 Any member of the Board of Judges and LU-JPIA, Council shall be
vested with the power to give sanction to any contestant he/she
has witnessed violating any of the said provision in this IRR.

IRR 4.9 After reading the contest rules and mechanics, contestants are
given the chance to raise questions/clarifications regarding the said
rules and mechanics.
IRR 5.1 This is a written 30-item exam which participants have to answer
within 45 minutes only. The exam is composed of both theoretical
and computational questions. The Top 80 participants in the said
elimination shall be determined through the results of the written
examination. These participants will then face each other in the
semi-finals phase.
IRR 5.2 Participants that have drawn/tied for the last spot for the pre-final
phase shall be given clincher questions. Points will be given to the
participant who answers the fastest.
IRR 6.2 Contestants shall be provided with a copy of the questions for all
items. The QDs shall distribute those copies upside-down and the
contestants are strictly not allowed to flip the copy per item subject
to the provision of IRR 6.3.
IRR 6.3 Upon the announcement of the quizmaster of the question number,
the contestants may flip their own copy and start to read and
answer the questions provided. Penalties for violation are as follows:

Warning shall be given for the 1st offense. On the 2nd offense, the
contestant shall mean disqualification from the question on hand.
3rd offense entails disqualification from the competition in general.
IRR 6.4 This type of quiz bee has theoretical and computational multiple-
choice questions: 12 Questions for Easy Category, 8 questions for
Average and 5 questions for Difficult. The allotted time per question
type and the pointing system for each round is as follows:
IRR 6.5 In case of a tie during this type of quiz bee, clincher questions shall
be asked by the quizmaster. Difficulty can vary from easy, average
or difficult. The time is still based on the table above. The first to
raise his/her letter shall be entertained first. A chance for a steal will
be given when the first participant to raise the letter failed to give
the right answer. If still the 2nd answer is wrong, the quizmaster will
move to the next question until a participant gets the correct
answer.
IRR 6.8 Scratch papers, pens/pencils, eraser and calculators are not
provided by the council. It is highly advised that all participants shall
bring their own provided that the quizmasters and facilitators will
check it upon entering the room.

IRR 7.1 Each Accounting Quiz Bee will have a Final phase. It is to be
competed by the Top 20 from each level. Answering will be through
letter-raising.
IRR 7.2 Contestants shall be provided with a copy of the questions for all
items. The QDs shall distribute those copies upside-down and the
contestants are strictly not allowed to flip the copy per item subject
to the provision of IRR 7.3.
IRR 7.3 Upon the announcement of the quizmaster of the question number,
the contestants may flip their own copy and start to read and
answer the questions provided. Penalties for violation are as follows:

IRR 7.4 This type of quiz bee has theoretical and computational multiple-
choice questions: 10 Questions for Easy Category, 8 questions for
Average and 5 questions for Difficult. The allotted time per question
type and the pointing system for each round is as follows:
IRR 7.5 Each team will be given six (6) power cards that would correspond
to the following:

IRR 7.6 Before a question is given, contestants will be told of the specific
topic of said question. Contestants are then given fifteen (15)
seconds to raise their power cards; however, it is not necessary for
the participants to raise a power card for each question. Only one
(1) card can be raised per question. Cards raised after the allotted
time will not be considered. Furthermore, a deduction of 15 points
will be given to a contestant who didn't use a minimum of 10 power
cards in the entire phase.
IRR 7.7 In case of a tie during the Final phase, clincher questions shall be
asked by the quizmaster. Difficulty can vary from easy, average or
difficult. The time is still based on the table above. The first to raise
his/her letter shall be entertained first. A chance for a steal will be
given when the first participant to raise the board failed to give the
right answer. If still the 2nd answer is wrong, the quizmaster will move
to the next question until a participant gets the correct answer.
IRR 7.8 All the questions in the Final phase quiz bees will be read once.
Request to repeat a question shall not be entertained unless there is
an approval from the member of LU-JPIA council present on the
contest proper.
IRR 7.9 Contestants are only allowed to manipulate their calculators after
the quizmaster says “GO”. Warning shall be given for the 1st offense.
2nd offense shall mean a disqualification from the particular
question while, 3rd offense entails disqualification from the
competition.
IRR 7.12 Scratch papers, pens/pencils, eraser and calculators are not
provided by the council. It is highly advised that all participants shall
bring their own provided that the quiz masters and facilitator will
check it upon entering the room.
IRR 7.13 The Accounting Quiz Bee Champion, 1st Runner Up and 2nd Runner
Up shall be determined through the accumulated results of the
Semi-final and Final Phase given the following percentages:
IRR 8.1 Each group shall be composed of one (1) 4th year student, one (1)
3rd year student and a first year student who didn't qualified to the
elimination, regardless of the course and gender.
IRR 8.3 Only a maximum of 15 groups will be accepted for the quiz bee.
First come, first serve basis. Once completed, the registration for the
said quiz bee will be closed.
IRR 8.4 SEMI-FINAL PHASE of the General Knowledge Quiz bee shall be
answered through letter-raising type. Contestants shall be provided
with a copy of the questions for all items. The QDs shall distribute
those copies upside-down and the contestants are strictly not
allowed to flip the copy per item subject to the provision of IRR 8.4.1
Warning shall be given for the 1st offense. On the 2nd offense,
the contestant shall mean disqualification from the question on
hand. 3rd offense entails disqualification from the competition
in general.
IRR 8.4.3 This type of quiz bee has multiple-choice questions covering
the categories of General Knowledge, Science and Math,
Natural World, History, Food and Drink, TV and Film,
Geography and The Bible with Easy, Average and Hard Level.
The allotted time per question is only 15 seconds and the
pointing system for Easy level is 5, Average level is 7 and Hard
level is 10.
IRR 8.4.4 In case of a tie during this type of quiz bee, clincher questions
shall be asked by the quizmaster. Difficulty can vary from easy,
average or difficult. The time is still only 15 seconds. The first to
raise his/her letter shall be entertained first. A chance for a
steal will be given when the first participant to raise the letter
failed to give the right answer. If still the 2nd answer is wrong,
the quizmaster will move to the next question until a
participant gets the correct answer.

IRR 8.5 FINAL PHASE OF THE GENERAL KNOWLEDGE QUIZ BEE shall be
completed by the Top 8 teams from the semi-finals phase.
Contestants shall be provided with a copy of the questions for all
items. The QDs shall distribute those copies upside-down and the
contestants are strictly not allowed to flip the copy per item subject
to the provision of IRR 8.5.1
IRR 8.5.2 This type of quiz bee has multiple-choice questions covering the
categories of General Knowledge, Science and Math, Natural
World, History, Food and Drink, TV and Film, Geography and
The Bible with Easy, Average and Hard Level . The allotted time
per question is only 20 seconds and the pointing system for Easy
level is 5, Average level is 7 and Hard level is 10.
IRR 8.5.2 Each team will be given six (6) power cards that would
correspond to the following:

IRR 8.5.8 The General Knowledge Quiz Bee Champion, 1st Runner Up
and 2nd Runner Up shall be determined through the
accumulated results of the Semi-final and Final Phase given the
following percentages:
IRR 9.1 Registration in the mind games shall only be entertained by the
Committee assigned by the Council after announcing the qualifiers.
Take note that only students who didn't qualified to the elimination
phase for the 1st years and semi-final phase for the level 2 and 3
and also students who won't register in the General Knowledge Quiz
Bee can join the Mind Games.
IRR 9.2 First come, first serve basis will be strictly implemented in the
registration. Once completed, the registration for the said game will
be closed. Maximum registrants in each mind game are as follows:

Amazing Race 40
IRR 9.3 Mind games will be competed regardless of course, year level and
gender. Moreover, schedule of the games and assembling teams in
the amazing race are to be made by the Non-Academics
Committee and Departmental VP for Non-academics, headed by
the JPIA VP for Non-academics, and their decision shall be final and
irrevocable.

IRR 9.4 All games shall be followed in its general accordance. Rules known
by the participants shall be stated before the start of the game and
must be approved favorably by the committee holding the game.
No stipulated rules shall be entertained at the start of the game 1.
IRR 9.5 Only first placers in each game will be recognized and awarded.
IRR 10.0 5TH ANNUAL QUIZ BEE "ERUDITE: CLASH OF EXCELLENT MINDS"
BENEFITS
IRR 10.1 The winners from each level will not only received prizes but shall
also have the privilege to represent the LU-JPIA for the upcoming
Accounting Quiz Bee from other universities. The LU-JPIA Council
shall bear a portion of the registration fees for the said
representatives.
IRR 11.1 The above-mentioned 5th Annual Quiz Bee "Erudite: Clash of
Excellent Minds" Implementing Rules and Regulations are for LU-
JPIA and related persons information exchange only. The council
maintains the relevance and reliability of this document through
the strict implementation of its rules and regulations.
IRR 11.2 Any questions raised by the contestants that are not included in
the IRR shall be subjected to the jurisdiction of the LU-JPIA Vice
President for Academics, ASC Vice President for Academics and
LU-JPIA Executive Officers. Their decision will be final and
irrevocable.
IRR 12.1 It shall be the primary duty of the LU-JPIA Executive Officers and
Committees to effectively enforce the provisions of this
Implementing Rules and Regulations. The Executive Officers also has
the sole right to interpret the contents of this Implementing Rules &
Regulations and their decision will be binding and irrevocable.

IRR 12.2 The LU-JPIA Adviser or his duly designated representative shall act as
legal adviser to the LU-JPIA Vice President for Academics and the
LU-JPIA Executive Officers and shall render legal assistance as may
be necessary in carrying out the provisions of this Implementing
Rules and Regulations.
IRR 13.1 The LU-JPIA Executive Officers shall be vested with the exclusive
power to revise and amend the Implementing Rules and
Regulations.
IRR 13.3 Any request for amendments and revisions as well as proposed
amendments must initially be reviewed by the LU-JPIA Vice
President for Academics and LU-JPIA vice President for Audit then
to be forwarded to the LU-JPIA Executive Officers for discussion,
editing and final approval and to be noted by the LU-JPIA Adviser.
IRR 13.4 The LU-JPIA Executive Officers shall have the right to debunk any
proposed revisions and amendments, submitted to them by the LU-
JPIA Vice President for Academics and for Audit, which are
deemed unnecessary. The final decision on any inclusions and
exclusions to this Implementing Rules and Regulations must be
determined by a majority vote of all LU-JPIA Executive Officers.
IRR 14.1 If any clause, provision, paragraph or part of this Implementing Rules
and Regulations shall be declared unconstitutional or invalid, such
judgment shall not affect, invalidate, or impair any other part hereof,
but shall be merely confined to the clause, provision, paragraph or
part directly involved in the controversy in which such judgment has
been rendered.

IRR 15.1 Any rule and regulation or resolution or part/s thereof inconsistent
with the provisions of this Implementing Rules and Regulations are
hereby repealed or modified accordingly.
IRR 16.1 This Implementing Rules and Regulations shall take effect
immediately after its presentation and approval.
