2. Lesson Objectives &  Students will be able to name at least 3 different types
Florida State Standards of shapes
 Students will be able to identify how we see shapes in
everyday life
 Students will be able to identify the different functions
shapes can have

Florida State Standards:

(MAFS.K.G.1) Students will be able to identify and


describe shapes.

(MAFS.K.G.2) Students will be able to Analyze, compare,


create, and compose shapes.

3. Learning Environment (scroll down for classroom layout)


Students’ desks will be arranged in a U. A design that promotes
learning in a group setting and help bring lectures together. This
provides enough space for classroom involvement. This also
leaves space on the edges of the classroom for activities. A
carpet are and an additional small group table will also be
provided as learning areas. A reading nook will be arranged in a
corner of the classroom.
4. Teaching and Learning  Teacher will present shapes to the students in laminate
Strategies pieces and have them passed around the classroom.
 Teacher will describe each shape and its name.
 Students will repeat the name of the shape after the
teacher.
 Students will attempt to draw each shape that gets
passed to them.
 Students will learn a song to remember the shapes they
learned.
 Teacher will review progress of students to see who
needs extra help by providing a worksheet to each
individual student after the lecture to see what she
needs to cover more of.
5. Technologies The computer and projector will be used to show a video and
song describing the shapes to the class.

6. Summative Evaluation The unit on geometry will be revised by the teacher before, and
and Revision Plan after the lesson is taught. The teacher will evaluate how the class
did on worksheets and where the students are during the
learning process.
