- One student is a setter, one the sender and then a blocker
- The sender throws the ball to the setter. The setter then sets the ball to a position away
from the blocker.
- The blocker can move whilst the ball is thrown, but not after the set

position
- Rotate roles
Progression

- Add movement between sending and receiving
KTPs

Set and flow
- Students are to be organised into groups of 3, each with a ball.
- Two players begin on one side of the area, with the third player
opposite them (triangle formation)
- One of the players from the two side will toss the ball to the
single player and then follow the ball to that side. The single
player will then set the ball to the other side and then follow
their pass and so on.
- Players should be able to do this continuously with good sets. Sets should be controlled and
reach desired outcome.
Progression
- Increase distance between students
- Add movement up and down the court
- Have groups compete against one another for most number of sets in a given time
KTPs
- Staying inside the line of the ball
- Making a triangle with the fingers
- Head and belly button behind the ball
- Appropriate angle of hands and fingers to send ball in desired directions

Walking setters
- Students are in pairs/groups on either side of court
- Setters will work on their setting skills while they are walking along
the court – both backwards and forwards.
- Starting in one corner, the player will go across the court forward,
maintaining good control and good height on the ball, while
walking.
- Then at the other side of the court, the setter will move over along the side-line of the court
about 10 feet, then walk backwards while maintaining good controlled sets. Once at the
other side, they will move up and then shuffle across to the other side.
- Continue up and down the court, each group/pair going one after another
Progression
- Increase speed of sets
- Increase distance of passes
KTPs
- Staying inside the line of the ball
- Making a triangle with the fingers
- Head and belly button behind the ball
- Appropriate angle of hands and fingers to send ball in desired directions
