PREPARATION:
Note: Refer to the color photo for shading and detail

• Trace the beard onto the DecoArt Paper and

• Adhere the paper in place with the DecoArt Matte

• Brush a thin coat of the Matte Medium over the
entire surface and let dry.

PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS:
Background:
• Base with Green Gold mixed 4:1 with DecoArt
Media Tinting Base. This will create a lighter, more
opaque green.
• Let dry.
• Stamp the background with the Christmas words
stamp and Sap Green.
• Shade around the Santa shape with Sap Green.

Santa Face:
• Base with Quinacridone Gold mixed 4:1 with
DecoArt Media Tinting Base. This will create a
lighter Flesh color. Shade with Quinacridone Gold.
• Highlight the nose with Titan Buff.
• Float the cheeks with a tint of the Primary Magenta.
• Base the eyes with Cobalt Teal Hue mixed 4:1
with Tinting base. Shade under the eyebrow with
Prussian Blue Hue. Highlight the bottom with
Titanium White.
• Base the pupil with Carbon Black. Line a highlight
with Titanium White.

Beard and Mustache (and eye brow):


• Base with Titan Buff mixed 4:1 with DecoArt Media
Tinting Base.
• Shade with Titan Buff.
• Drybrush with Titanium White.
• Deepen shading with Burnt Umber.
• Float highlights on the mustache with Titanium White.

Santa Hat:
• Base with Primary Magenta mixed 4:1 with DecoArt
Media Tinting Base.
• Shade with Primary Magenta. Let dry and repeat
to darken.
• Stencil the hat with the 1/8” Polka Dot stencil and
Titanium White.

Bell:
• Base with Cobalt Teal Hue mixed 4:1 with DecoArt
Media Tinting Base.
• Shade with Cobalt Teal Hue.
• Drybrush with Titanium White.
• Deepen shading with Prussian Blue Hue.
• Float brighter highlights with Titanium White.
• Tree Trunk:
• Base with Burnt Umber mixed 4:1 with DecoArt
Media Tinting Base.
• Shade with Burnt Umber. Highlight with Titan Buff.
• Deepen shading with Carbon Black.

Tree Base:
• Base with Primary Magenta mixed 4:1 with DecoArt
Media Tinting Base.
• Shade with Primary Magenta. Let dry and repeat
to darken.
• Stencil the hat with the Polka Dot stencil and Gesso.
• Base the polka dots with Base with Cobalt Teal Hue
mixed 4:1 with DecoArt Media Tinting Base.
• Shade with Cobalt Teal Hue. Float Highlights with
Titanium White.
• Deepen shading with Prussian Blue Hue.

FINISHING:
• Outline as desired with Carbon Black.
• Add the hat brim with the DecoArt Snow Writer.
Use a stylus to help move the snow around.
• Sprinkle with Glamour Dust while wet.
• Adhere the HO HO HO with the DecoArt Matte
Medium. Let dry. Outline with Carbon Black.
• Adhere a small bow above the bell.
• Drybrush the beard and mustache with a little Snow.
• Brush Liquid Glass onto the Scroll stamp and
quickly stamp the surface in random places.
Quickly sprinkle with Glamour dust while still wet.
Include the tree base.
• Varnish and enjoy
