CÁC DẠNG THỨC CỦA ĐỘNG TỪ (P2 + V-ed)

1. Quá khứ phân từ (P2)

- Dạng thức quá khứ phân từ (P2) được dùng trong các thì hoàn thành (Present
Perfect, Past Perfect), trong câu bị động hoặc trong câu điều kiện loại III.
- Ngoài ra, P2 còn được sử dụng trong một số mẫu câu khác dưới đây.
● Would (should) like + to have + P2 : Diễn đạt một ước muốn không thành.

Ví dụ:
He would like to have seen the photos = He would have liked to see the photos (But he
couldn't).
(Anh ấy muốn được xem những bức ảnh đó.)

● Dùng với một số động từ: to appear, to seem, to happen, to pretend

Nên nhớ rằng hành động của nguyên mẫu hoàn thành (have + P2) xảy ra trước hành động của
mệnh đề chính (seem, happen, …).

Ví dụ:
He seems to have passed the exam = It seems that he has passed the exam.
(Có vẻ như là anh ấy đã đậu kì thi.)

She pretended to have read the material = She pretended that she had read the material.
(Cô ấy giả vờ là mình đã đọc tài liệu.)

● Dùng với sorry, to be sorry + to have + P2: Hành động của nguyên mẫu hoàn thành xảy ra
trước trạng thái sorry.

Ví dụ:
The girls were sorry to have missed the Rock Concert = The girls were sorry that they had
missed the Rock Concert.
(Những cô gái thấy tiếc vì đã lỡ mất buổi hòa nhạc Rock.)

● Dùng với một số các động từ sau đây ở thể bị động: to acknowledge. believe, consider,
find, know, report, say, suppose, think, understand. Hành động của nguyên mẫu hoàn
thành xảy ra trước hành động của mệnh đề chính.

Ví dụ:
He was believed to have gone out of the country = It was believed that he had gone out of the
country.
(Người ta tin rằng ông ấy đã rời khỏi đất nước này.)

● Dùng với một số các động từ khác như to claim, expect, hope, promise. Đặc biệt lưu ý
rằng hành động của nguyên mẫu hoàn thành sẽ ở future perfect so với thời của động từ ở
mệnh đề chính.

Ví dụ:
He expects to have graduated by June = He expects that he will have graduated by June.
(Anh ấy mong mình sẽ tốt nghiệp vào tháng Sáu.)

He promised to have told me the secret by the end of this week. = He promised that he would
have told me the secret by the end of this week.
(Anh ấy hứa là sẽ kể cho tôi bí mật đó vào cuối tuần này.)
 ● To have/to get sth P2: diễn tả một việc gì được làm bằng cách nhờ người khác (không
nhấn mạnh người làm) = have smb V (nhờ ai làm gì - có nhắc tới người làm)
Ex: I have my hair cut. (Tôi đi cắt tóc – chứ không phải tôi tự cắt)
= I have my friend cut my hair.
I have my car repaired. (Tôi mang xe đi sửa ngoài dịch vụ – không phải tự sửa)
I have the mechanic repair my car. (Tôi nhờ người thợ cơ khí sửa xe giúp)

● Trong quá khứ chúng ta không dùng WOULD RATHER để nói "THÍCH" mà chỉ dùng
WOULD RATHER với nghĩa "THÀ" mà thôi, do đó trong quá khứ nếu dùng WOULD
RATHER chúng ta luôn phải lùi thì.

Ví dụ:
I WOULD RATHER you hadn't come here yesterday. Ta thấy yesterday (quá khứ) nên phải lùi
thì. Bình thường yesterday động từ là "came", bây giờ ta phải lùi thì: "came" => "had come".

Nếu hai chủ ngữ giống nhau ta có thể rút gọn chủ ngữ sau:
Ví dụ:
I WOULD RATHER I hadn't met him yesterday.
=> I WOULD RATHER haven't met him yesterday. (lưu ý "hadn't" => "haven't" vì thuộc mẫu câu
"WOULD RATHER + HAVE P2".

2. Động từ Quá khứ (Ved)

- Động từ trong quá khứ được sử dụng ở các thì Past Simple, mệnh đề điều kiện của
câu ĐK loại II, câu mong ước.
- Ngoài ra, động từ trong quá khứ còn được sử dụng trong các dạng thức giả định
hoặc các kiểu câu dưới đây.
● S + last + Ved + time + ago: Lần cuối cùng làm gì

=> S + have/ has +not+ for + time

=> It’s + time + since + S + last + Ved.

=> The last time + S + V ed+ was + time + ago.

Ví dụ: It last snowed 2 weeks ago.

=> It hasn’t snowed for 2 weeks

=> It’s 2 weeks since it last snowed.

=> The last time it snowed was 2 weeks ago.

● It + is + time + S + V-ed (Đến lúc ai đó đáng nhẽ làm gì nhưng vẫn chưa làm)
Ví dụ: It is time you had a shower. (Đáng lẽ đã đến lúc con đi tắm - nhưng hiện tại vẫn chưa đi)
● It’s + time + for someone + to do sth (đã đến lúc ai đó cần phải làm gì...).
Ví dụ: It’s time for me to ask all of you for this question.
● S1 + would rather that + S2 + V2 + O (Câu giả định đối lập với thực tế ở hiện tại)
Động từ sau chủ ngữ hai sẽ chia ở simple past, to be phải chia là were ở tất cả các ngôi.
Ví dụ: Henry would rather that his girlfriend worked in the same department as he does.
(His girlfriend does not work in the same department)
Jane would rather that it were winter now. (Infact, it is not winter now)
Henry would rather that his girlfriend didn’t work in the same department as he does.
