INTRODUCTION
OF
1 RE> is an improved design based on toastmaster
and adds some innovative features to it.

Toastmaster is a household product. Due to its

low price, it has many defects in functionality
and quality. We adhere to the principle of
improvement, improve the functional defects on
the basis of the original product, and solve the
dustproof problem to some extent.

Based on the designer's personal pursuit of

mojo, we have added some subsidiary
functions. For details, please pay attention to
the later pages.

1893
First electric Toaster
The first electric toaster was invented in 1893
by Alan MacMasters in Scotland. He called
the device the “Eclipse Toaster,” and it was
manufactured and marketed by the Cromp-
ton Company.
1909
Re-Design of the first toaster
This early toaster was reinvented in 1909 in the
U.S, it only toasted one side of the bread at a time
and it required that someone stand by to manually
turn it off when the toast looked done.
 1919
First Pop-up toaster
Charles Strite invented the modern timed
pop-up toaster in 1919. Today, the toaster is
the most common household item although
itʼs only been in existence in the U.S. a little
over 100 years.
1980s-
Mordern electric toasters
By the 1980ʼs the development of heat-resistant
plastics offered more options for toaster design.
Models with rounded sides in a variety of colors
became popular. Wider slots for bagels and thick
slices of bread also appeared, as well as models
with up to six slots for multiple toasting.

 The material that Toastmaster used is plastic and
steinless steel,

Considering the cost problem, the product uses a large

area of plastic as the outer casing, which causes the
bread machine to have an odor when it is working, and
this is harmful to the human body.

Heating System: Infrared Radiation

Infrared radiation (IR), sometimes referred to simply as infrar is

a region of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum where
wavelengths range from about 700 nanometers (nm) to 1
millimeter (mm). Infrared waves are longer than those of visible
light, but shorter than those of radio waves.

We found some problems based on user
feedback. We focused on Clean and tried to
change the way of Toastmaster baked bread.
The first thing we started was that we thought
about how to clean the interior space. These
are the ideas about the design of Clips.The
purpose of clips is to separate the iron piecesx
that directly touches the bread from the inter-
nal structure of the breadmaker, so that the clip
is easier to clean (put that into dishwasher).
These solutions are designed based on the
form and the way of using strength, and we
have designed several different clips.
 Plan A

The first design used a triangular

construction to maintain the stability
of the bread, but we found that the
triangular clips used to deform the
bread when used, so we improved

The shape is changed

Plan B

For Plan B, we changed the basic

shape of the clip but we found that
this way of using strength is not
labor-saving for people.

Plan C

So in the Plan C, we changed the

way of exerting force. The inspira-
tion comes from the way the hand-
bag is made to make the arm relax
naturally when people are useing
strength.

The function of cover is a dust

protection device, You could switch
the cover by sliding the slider.
Iron Pieces

Secondly, considering the internal structure, there will be

breadcrumbs and dust on the side of the partition and the
bottom, so we consider changing the shape of the insula-
tion board, adding a window-opening design to facilitate
the breadcrumbs from the structure to the bottom, and the
bottom is pumped Pull the dust storage box to collect this
part of the dust and breadcrumbs.

Secondly, in the early stage of the
design process, we envisioned how
to bake bread and patties and
bacon at the same time. If the
hamburger combination is placed in
the holder at the same time, the
structure of the bread will become a
mess and is not conducive to
stability, so we have changed the
overall direction.
TOASTING
Since we changed the direction of
the clip, we considered placing the
bread on the side of the bread, and
we followed the principle of the
cover, in order to prevent dust and
flying insects.

Based on the integration of the
concepts, we interspersed different
parts on the sides of the bread
machine, changing the orientation
of the heating system, simplifying
the baking process and simplifying
the design of the shape.
