substance, and their prevention and treatment.
B. Performance Standards:
The learners should be able to present an analysis of the data gathered on diseases resulting from nutrient
deficiency.

Hepatitis - an inflammation in liver caused by virus infection
Gastritis - an acute or chronical inflammation on mucose layer of stomach wall
Constipation - A disorder due to the excessive water absorption of feces by large intestine that causes
difficulty to pass the feces
Diarrhea - an irritation on the membrane of colon wall caused by bacteria dysentriae, bad diet, poisonous
matters, and stress
Appendicitis - An inflammation and swelling of blind gut
Hemorrhoid - Swollen vein in anus
Parotitis - an inflammation of parotid glands caused by infection of Rabula inflans virus
Colic - A disorder caused by excessive food that comes in
G. Activity
Materials: cartolina, pictures
Procedures:
1. You will be grouped into five with each group containing 7 members.
2. You will be given cartolina and pictures for the activity.
3. On the left side of the cartolina are the definitions of the diseases that can affect the digestive.
4. You have to match the correct pictures in each diseases
5. You are only given 5 minutes to perform the activity.
H. Generalization
Many of the diseases of the digestive system are tied to the foods we eat, and a number of sufferers
can reduce their symptoms by restricting their diets.

Use 1 whole sheet of paper. Name the disease of the digestive system being shown in each item.
