Hosea Chapter 13 ���

� ‫הֹו‬
‫ �נ�ׂשא הּוא‬,‫א �ּכ�ד��ר �א�פ�ר �ים �ר�תת‬ 1 When Ephraim spoke, there was
trembling, he exalted himself in Israel;
.‫ �����מת‬,‫�� �י�ׂש�ר�אל; �����א�ׁשם ������ל‬ but when he became guilty through
Baal, he died.

‫ ������ׂשּו �ל�הם‬,‫ב ������ה יֹו��פּו �ל�ח� �א‬ 2 And now they sin more and more,
and have made them molten images of
,‫�מ����ה �מ�ּכ����ם �ּכ�תבּו�נם ������ים‬ their silver, according to their own
‫ �הם‬,‫ �ּכֹּלה; �ל�הם‬,‫�מ���ׂשה �ח�ר�ׁשים‬ understanding, even idols, all of them
.‫ ���ג�לים �י��קּון‬,‫ �ז�ב�חי �א�דם‬,‫�א�מ �רים‬ the work of the craftsmen; of them
they say: 'They that sacrifice men kiss
calves.'

,‫ ������ל‬,‫���קר‬-‫ �י�היּו �ּכ���נן‬,‫ג �ל��ן‬ 3 Therefore they shall be as the

morning cloud, and as the dew that
,‫�מ�ׁש�ּכים �ה�לְך; �ּכ�מץ �י����ר �מ���רן‬ early passeth away, as the chaff that is
.‫ּו�����ׁשן �מ�א�ר��ה‬ driven with the wind out of the
threshing-floor, and as the smoke out
of the window.

‫ �מ�א�רץ‬,‫ד ���א �נ��י �יה��ה �אֹל�היָך‬ 4 Yet I am the LORD thy God from
the land of Egypt; and thou knowest no
,‫�מ���ר �ים; ��אֹל�הים זּו�ל�תי ל �א �ת�דע‬ God but Me, and beside Me there is no
.‫ּומֹו�ׁשי�� �א �ין ���ל��י‬ saviour.

,‫���א�רץ‬--‫ �����ד��ר‬,‫ה �א �ני �י�ד����יָך‬ 5 I did know thee in the wilderness, in

the land of great drought.
.‫���ל�אבֹות‬
‫ �����רם‬,‫�ׂש�בעּו‬--‫ �� ���ׂש��עּו‬,‫ו �ּכ�מ �ר��י�תם‬ 6 When they were fed, they became
full, they were filled, and their heart
.‫ �ׁש��חּו �ני‬,‫�ּכן‬-‫�ל��ם; ��ל‬ was exalted; therefore have they
forgotten Me.

,‫�ּכ�נ�מר‬--‫�ׁש�חל‬-‫ �ּכמֹו‬,‫ז ���א�הי �ל�הם‬ 7 Therefore am I become unto them as

a lion; as a leopard will I watch by the
.‫���רְך �אׁשּור‬-‫��ל‬ way;

‫ ���א�ק�רע ��גֹור‬,‫ח �א�פ���ׁשם �ּכ�דב �ׁשּכּול‬ 8 I will meet them as a bear that is
bereaved of her whelps, and will rend
‫ �ח��ת‬,‫�ל��ם; ���א���לם �ׁשם �ּכ�ל�ביא‬ the enclosure of their heart; and there
.‫�ה���דה ���ב����ם‬ will I devour them like a lioness; the
wild beast shall tear them.

.‫�בי �ב���ז�רָך‬-‫ �ּכי‬,‫ט �ׁש�ח�תָך �י�ׂש�ר�אל‬ 9 It is thy destruction, O Israel, that

thou art against Me, against thy help.

-‫ ��יֹו�ׁשי��ָך ����ל‬,‫י �א�הי �מ�ל�ּכָך �אפֹוא‬ 10 Ho, now, thy king, that he may save
thee in all thy cities! and thy judges, of
-‫ ���נה‬,��‫�א�ׁשר �א�מ �ר‬--‫���ריָך; ���ׁש�פ��יָך‬ whom thou saidst: 'Give me a king and
.‫��י �מ�לְך ���ׂש �רים‬ princes!'

‫ ���א��ח‬,‫�לָך �מ�לְך ���א��י‬-‫יא �א��ן‬ 11 I give thee a king in Mine anger,

and take him away in My wrath. {P}
}‫ {פ‬.‫�����ב�ר�תי‬
‫ ��פּו�נה‬,‫יב ��רּור �� ��ן �א�פ�ר �ים‬ 12 The iniquity of Ephraim is bound
up; his sin is laid up in store.
.‫�ח��אתֹו‬
‫�בן‬-‫ �י�באּו לֹו; הּוא‬,‫יג �ח�ב�לי יֹו�ל�דה‬ 13 The throes of a travailing woman
shall come upon him; he is an unwise
‫�י���מד ���מ�ׁש��ר‬-‫��ת ל �א‬-‫ �ּכי‬,‫ל �א �ח��ם‬ son; for it is time he should not tarry in
.‫�� �נים‬ the place of the breaking forth of
children.

‫ �מ����ת‬,‫יד �מ��ד �ׁשאֹול �א�פ��ם‬ 14 Shall I ransom them from the power
of the nether-world? Shall I redeem
‫ �א�הי‬,‫�א�ג�א�לם; �א�הי �ד�ב�ריָך �מ��ת‬ them from death? Ho, thy plagues, O
.‫ �י���תר �מ��י�ני‬,‫ �נ�חם‬--‫�ק���בָך �ׁשאֹול‬ death! Ho, thy destruction, O nether-
world! Repentance be hid from Mine
eyes!

‫ ��ין �א�חים �י�פ �ריא; �יבֹוא‬,‫טו �ּכי הּוא‬ 15 For though he be fruitful among the
reed-plants, an east wind shall come,
‫ ���יבֹוׁש‬,‫�ק�דים רּו�ח �יה��ה �מ���ד��ר �ע�לה‬ the wind of the LORD coming up from
,‫הּוא �י�ׁש��ה‬--‫�מקֹורֹו ���י�ח�רב �מ���ינֹו‬ the wilderness, and his spring shall
.‫�ּכ�לי �ח�מ��ה‬-‫אֹו��ר �ּכל‬ become dry, and his fountain shall be
dried up; he shall spoil the treasure of
all precious vessels.
