As shown below, the dominant area of my Multiple Intelligences is Interpersonal with

Intrapersonal Intelligence. In the student-centered classroom my Interpersonal

Intelligence comes to the fore-front when I encourage the use of cooperative learning
skills and promote research and reflection as a means of learning. In this environment,
as a facilitator, I must be able to recognize my own emotions and how they will affect
my functioning in the classroom. I need to be able to also recognize the emotions of
others that I am instructing and find ways to assist them. I also need to encourage my
students to become aware of their own feelings and set and meet certain goals.

I agree that my recessive area is logical-mathematical and I certainly do not do well in a

math class and I am not a very good problem solver. This is definitely an area I need to
work on. In order for me to solve a math problem it has to be work out several times
before I can begin to understand what is to be done so that I can solve it on my own.
This may also speak to my low score in my visual-spatial domain.

I agree with the results of Linguistic and Naturalistic as these both speak to
requirements of my training in a military environment. As part of my military training, it
is important that I am able to speak and write well as well as understand the meaning of
words and how to use them appropriately.

As much as possible, I use my social and communication skills to create an online

community where my learners are aware that they can share and cooperate with each
other to ensure that they all produce quality work. I also enjoy writing papers and essay
more so than completing a quiz and this falls into my linguistic domain. A student with
kinesthetic intelligence will not benefit greatly from such a test.

Am I really a musical learner? While I cannot carry a tune, I can remember every lyric
and I tend to sing along even though I am working. I enjoy having light music play very
low in the background when I am giving presentations and I find that some of my
students do the same. Even as I am completing these assignments, I am listening to my
music and my students are sitting with me revising for an exam.

In creating a multiple intelligence classroom, assessment methods will be critical to its

success. When planning creating and designing my assessment my aim is to use
assessment to help students believe that the target is within reach. This in itself is a
challenge - understanding and catering to different learning styles is of critical
importance and this means that I must provide different kinds of activities for different
kinds of learners. We must be able to allow student to capture their dominant
intelligence and this may be done using digital portfolios.
